I got my plugs and coil packs done with no issues, but I did have some trouble with the headers. While removing the manifolds, I broke 1 of 3 bolts from the cats on one side, and 2 of the 3 on the other. And when putting the headers on - for the bolts to the block, I got about 4 of 6 in on one side and maybe 3 on the other. It was hard doing it on my back in the garage, plus I did everything in one night and I was tired. I knew I'd have to put a lot more time into it or take it to my indie. I chose the latter. It sounded like a mini bike when I fired it up at idel! Kinda cool, but I knew it wasn't right.
When I took it in, I somewhat miscommunicated with the desk guy.
[rant on] I really don't like working through 'desk guys' at indie shops. I was thinking about starting a thread on that to fully rant it out. I dealt with 3 indie shops in the Boston area and in each case, I worked directly with the owner/mechanic. Down in Atlanta, that guy has a front man (or woman) to handle customer BS and keep the mechanic productive. I get the model, but it sucks. [/rant off].
I told the desk guy that they didn't need to get all the bolts in, just a few more than I got in. Well, they called me after they put 4+ hours into it and were going to go at it for another few hours longer until I told the desk guy to let me talk directly to the mechanic. I explained that I plan to upgrade the cats at some point and he understood right away. He said - no sense investing a lot of money into fixing the broken bolts on those stock cats. He buttoned it up, and then I picked it up with a $400 bill - to put in just a few bolts. They got in all of the bolts to the block, and they rigged something for the connection to the cats. So it sounds way better and it seems to go a bit better, too, but I haven't really had a chance to stretch the legs.
In hindsight, I should have been more clear / adamant, maybe discussed directly with mechanic at the start, and/or stayed there and raised the flag when it was taking longer than expected. So - I know I'm partially to blame...
I'll get to the cats at some point, when I feel like opening the wallet, plus tackling an even bigger job. That will be rear bumper off for cats, and then water pump too. And it's going to be tough putting it all back together correctly - in general, plus with my custom center-exit exhaust with those tack welds...

What is the going rate for a full front end Xpel application. After 10 yrs the factory 3M it is loose at the edges and needs to be replaced.

I swapped my muffler bypass for locally-Gundo's OEM mufflers. It's back to being way, way too quiet. After a few weeks with the bypass pipes, I don't think the Gundo's mufflers sound that much different from stock.
