Maybe they don't want to attach radiator protection with plastic zip ties on their $100K sports car? Or they don't have the fins to tie them to...both true in my case. No cheesy mods allowed!

If you can't see the zip ties from 2 ft away does it make any difference? Is it still "cheesy"? Is it worth an extra $265 ($3000 Can)? Thanks but I'll stick with my cheesy mods and pocket the cash

You sound like the guys that MUST have a $3000 PSE system because a cheesy $300 gundo hack that sounds exactly the same doesn't come with the Porsche tax

And with reference to your beloved $100k sports car, I don't know about your 2006 but I wish mine was worth $100k. Pls!!!

Velveeta, seven kinds of cheese.

The zip ties accelerated your depreciation.

I got the mesh from Home Depot or Rona's (Canada). Its just metal gutter guards - $10
this is what I am going to do to my car. I have the metal mesh already. I was looking for neoprene rubber edge trim but have not found any yet. I may just skip it and just do it with out this trim.

I think this is an inexpensive solution and it allows easy excess just in case.

Louis be careful as it may rapidly depreciate the value of your car!! It will be *gasp* cheesy

Or you can spend $275 for something that you can do yourself for $10 then your 2006 will be worth $100k!!

You took at least a $265 hit in depreciation. Maybe even $266.

Celebrated my one year anniversary of stewardship of my 2010 C4S. I've put just about exactly 25K miles on during that time. Spent yesterday doing the 60K service/inspection minus the PDK clutch oil change, four wheel drive controller oil change, and coolant flush. Some things don't DIY as well as others.

Loving every minute with this car, even though it has lost major value due to the Home Depot radiator screens!

Default Replaced engine air filters

I replaced my 997.2 engine air filters. Bought Mann filters. Car has 31k miles. Filters looked pretty dirty. Easy job. Eight screws on the cover then one clip. One screw on each filter. Total time about 30 minutes.

You can actually hide the zip ties if you run them "inside" the horizontal fins. If you check there is black plastic bar inside the fins. I slid the zip ties between the black plastic and the actual fin.

Edit: This is it before I cut off the excess piece.

For your rubber edge trim why don't you try buying some 1/8" or smaller automotive black hose normally used for vacuum lines, windshield washers hoses, etc. Then use a single edge blade to carefully split it open and use that as your edge guard?

If you go that route, then I also suggest that you find a long flat surface (granite counter top, glass dining room table, etc.), tape the hose down with wide tape (masking, duct, etc.) in a straight as possible line and start slicing it open. BTW, if you're going to use one of the flat surfaces that I mentioned... get your wife's permission/approval because trust me I've been there!

The splitting may be a bit time consuming but I think that it might look better than some of the "black tape" suggestions sometimes mentioned. Anyway, just another alternative for the thought process.
