If I read it correctly, the available torque figures come in at a lower rpm than the S, even though max is the same. If true, then you may feel the difference in seat of the pants stuff

I think I will just paint my wheels and buy the letters. It would be difficult for me to part with the PDK now.

Yeah, 100% agree with this. It would make the S much more well defined as a purist sports car vs. the base model which should be defined as a grand tourer. No sunroof, stripped of electronics, alcantara inside, lighter weight, etc.

Imagine if you had just taken delivery of a 2010 S with the $16,000 X51 powerkit option, and now they undercut you with this new model with the same powerkit for several thousand less along with a bunch of other goodies essentially thrown in for free.

Porsche's favorite customer is always the NEXT customer. Yet we all aspire someday to be that next customer again (for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time?). Brilliant little profit machine. And fun to drive too!

I'll take mine in guards red please.

Pulled the trigger.

2011 Carrara White GTS w/SPASM, heated seats, & XM. All the stuff that is supposedly removed is *not* removed for the US. The brochure on the PCNA site is a Euro brochure and incorrect according to their configurator. Hennessy (top 2-3 in the nation on volume, and here next to PCNA HQ) gets 4 allocations - 2 coupes, 2 convertibles.

There are 3 left.

You mean the US-spec cars all have mandatory sunroofs too?

WEAK.

Couldn't find what you're referring to about torque coming in at lower RPM. Must have missed it. Could you maybe copy and paste the info or provide a link or location for the reference?

If I were buying a 997.2S now - I'd get this. Awesome car. Wide hips and 2WD + PSE are exactly what i would have wanted when I got mine. But I wouldnt take the hit on my car for 0.1 sec 0-60 and very little else thats better. It reminds me of the 40th anni. Great car - but parts bin clearnce model - and you may almost regret not getting the next model unless you get a screaming deal.

Sunroof was _not_ an option on the configurator, so I'm assuming yes. The list of std options is light ATM.

All of this talk about the GTS is great but I cannot help but sit here and feel totally satisfied with having bought my flawless 06 C2S cab with 6K miles for just 63K certified. I could have spent $100K+ but for me there's something about being (relatively) financially responsible + enjoying a pretty much new 997. Makes me happy.

So you say... I may disagree though, based on fundamental change of the classic 911 architecture. You may not care, some of us do.

Too bad the GTS has the alcantara crap all over the cabin.
