What don't you like about your 997?

... actually that gives me an idea. I could burn a CD with just one track that's all silence and just leave it in the stereo all the time.

997.1
1. Stinky AC
2. No off button on AC
3. Peeling paint from AC **** and center console
4. Water marks on the door sills after car wash
5. Lack of trunk space
6. Inadvertently opening front trunk lid when key fob is in pocket. I discussed this with my service department and they denied any knowledge of problem fix
These issues are all minor and certainly don't detract from the fact that this is the best car I have ever owned.

I was amazed when the salesman told me that my silver painted console was an expensive optional extra. It looks very nice though and holds up well. Still like new 5 years later.

The windscreen is terribly engineered. They break at the pivot point time after time. I am planning to reverse engineer it with replacement pieces made from hardier materials.

1. Difficult to get into without slaming down into the seat and scuffing the side bolsters.
2. Passenger seat vibrates at idle
3. Some days its V fast...other days it feels slow and lacking in verve?????
4. Leather started to get shiny after 20k and 10 months usage (I hate shiny leather)
5. Persistant rattle and sqeak over my left shoulder towards the back I have no idea what it is.
6. Alloy wheels are very soft even though I remove brake dust every week they are pitted to hell.
7. Sqeaky brakes
8. Rear condensation in light clusters
9. No mesh to protect the front radiators from stone impacts and leaves collecting and roting the rads.
10. The amount of stone chips the car attracts
11. Side windows smeared to hell 5 secs after washing the car
But show me an empty B road and I'll forgive it anything!

Price & Depreciation
Dash Wart
Door Rattle
Stinky A/C
Slow Clock

Weight & straightline performance compared to much cheaper cars (M3, 335i, Lexus ISF, base Corvette, Mustang, etc.)
I know I should do PDE before saying this, but I'm seriously wondering if a rear engined car just isn't for me. I'm not sure I enjoy the 911's quirks in driving as much as other people. In some ways I like taking turns more in my M3. It just seems easier to take the turns much faster and the turn in is more precise and grippy. In high 3rd & 4th gear turns the M3 feels more planted, and the light front end of the 911 feels more floaty and less assuring sometimes. Same goes for once you're up at the top of 4th & 5th gear in a straight line. I don't like the light front end.
Maybe I should consider the Boxster Spyder or the next Cayman S.

Funny, I just traded an '08 M3 vert for my '09 997 C2S cab and while I'm really liking the Porsche some of the handling characteristics that you mentioned compared to the M3 have crossed my mind as well...the M3 did feel more planted than the 997 but I'm still new to the 997 and think as I become more familiar with it - it will feel more comfortable to me. The M3 is a great ride and I may end up with another one before it's all over. BMW really has that car dialed in...and, unlike Porsche, it comes with all kinds of intuitive touches, like being able to lower the top/windows when approaching the car, a one touch button that lowers all 4 windows at once, and on and on.

One touch passenger window
I thought my new-to-me 06C2 had an issue with the passenger window as well. It turns out that you have the hold the passenger window button until the window is past the half way point, and then it will finish going up by itself.
