Default disable receptor in car for trunk opening?

I am tired of reclosing the hood every time the button on the key gets accidently pushed,

I assume there is a unit in the car the "hears" the signal from the key, can this be disabled so the hood can only be opened by the switch next to the drivers seat?

You can have the dealer code it that way, but the proper fix is take the car to the dealer and complain about this issue and ask them to update the programming of the key to extend the time required pressing the button to make it actuate. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Mark has a good point....normally, you have to hold the button down for about three or four seconds. Sounds like yours is instant on....

I put a SmarTop in my car, which has a setting for extending the hold time to activate the hood release. It helps. However, despite having that, I still find it releasing sometimes when i accidentally and unknowingly press on the key in my pocket for a few seconds when working around the car.

Just an FYI Porsche has a bulliten out for this issue, first you are to have your key reprogrammed, if you still have issues they will replace your remote with the newer 08 style which is lower profile and harder to accidentally actuate.

You'll find out that 80% of the time Rennlist members know more about what a dealer can do than the average dealer.

I had the same problem w/ my key. I took the key apart and I used the file on a Swiss Army knife and filed ~1-1.5 mm off of the black plastic post that activates the signal. I did this ~ 2 years and no more problems. Be careful not to take off too much.

Thet reprogrammed my key from 700 milliseconds to 1100...I watched them do it. I'll let you know how it works out.

They can also just turn the feature off.

I just put some duct tape on to keep the hood closed. Haven't had a problem since.

Obviously, j/k, but with my "launch" car, never had a problem.
