I generally love my 997. Even though I always wanted a black one I loved the seal grey the minute I saw it on the car.

The one thing I think I would change if I could would be the white dials on the dash. To me they would look better with a black background. I have seen a few 997's with black dials and immediately I just went 'wow that's nice'

White dials seem to have been a temporary fad that now looks very dated.

I'm annoyed be that creak/groan I get from the driver's door when I drive over a bump. Both of my 997s have done it.

Hate the Sport Chrono and the wart. Next time I won't settle for a car that has it.

I envy the 997.2 PCM (although I'm PCM-less in the GT3 and mostly don't miss it).

I wish it weighed a couple hundred pounds less. I wish the buying public were more interested in weight than in horsepower. We'd get better cars if they were. I don't want a 400hp C2S, i want a 3000lb C2S. (Less would be even better, but staying reasonable...)

Only item that occasionally bugs me is when the rear deck fan blower kicks on...at slow speeds, the noise/vibration/harshness (NVH) from the blower interferes with the otherwise sweet sounds coming from the engine compartment.

The wind screen is, to put it simply, a POS. Pain in the *** to put up or down and is prone to scratch the leather when doin it.

1. Body groan when entering my driveway.

2. The alcantara headliner ( it flutters and flops around in the back when driving with the windows open.

3. A fair amount of engine whine between 2000 and 3000 rpm.

4. I am afraid to park it when out driving.

5. Too many Corvettes and slammed Civics come up to my tail and seem to want to race.

I do really enjoy driving the car though.......

The only thing I don't like about my 997 is the leather wear on the ***. The surface seems to wear much quicker & easier than my other cars.

bolster creases no matter how carefully I get in or out of the seat

Down is counterclockwise on the PCM **** when navigating menus, unlike every other piece of technology I've ever owned

Raspy exhaust rattle for 5 seconds on start, dealer tells me the sound is "normal" but it elicits stares in every parking lot

The attention I get from every policeman who sees it

Price & Depreciation
Dash Wart
Door Rattle
Stinky A/C
Slow Clock
Understeer
Weight & straightline performance compared to much cheaper cars (M3, 335i, Lexus ISF, base Corvette, Mustang, etc.)

I know I should do PDE before saying this, but I'm seriously wondering if a rear engined car just isn't for me. I'm not sure I enjoy the 911's quirks in driving as much as other people. In some ways I like taking turns more in my M3. It just seems easier to take the turns much faster and the turn in is more precise and grippy. In high 3rd & 4th gear turns the M3 feels more planted, and the light front end of the 911 feels more floaty and less assuring sometimes. Same goes for once you're up at the top of 4th & 5th gear in a straight line. I don't like the light front end.

Maybe I should consider the Boxster Spyder or the next Cayman S.

Where exactly is the wear occurring? All over or just where your left buttock might be sliding down on the left vertical bolster? Hint hint.
