received my "kit" lightening fast from Hatzenbach. Was a quick and easy install and upon first test it works exactly as described. Very happy from start to finish

Add me to that list as well, except I’ll take 2.

actually what I'm really trying to figure out is how to tap into the light sensor in the middle of the dashboard.
Let's see, but this might take a while. Thanks to @funnelofdoom for his tips, as always.

That controls the lighting of the dash, right? I don’t understand why Porsche did that but could do it for auto headlights too. That would be an even better solution.

I'm not even sure. I think it's actually used for the A/C. I haven't really started looking into it yet. But yes, the ultimate goal would be for me to create an harness that plugs into that sensor and no need to install the light sensor at all.
So many ideas, so little time ....

That light sensor on the dash might be used to turn on the fog lights when switch is in the home position only when it's dark out.

I mentioned dash lighting because it seems the dash lights aren’t necessarily on automatically when you turn the headlights to the on position. As the outdoor light decreases at dusk or what have you, the dash lights come on. Why that wasn’t tied to the headlights is beyond me. Why would a light sensor be tied to the A/C?

Fan speed would be higher if in direct sunlight. I have seen other cars that used a sensor for the AC.

On the 987.2 wiring diagrams, the dash sun sensor is wired to the Climatronic unit for both auto and manual A/C cars. Black/red is signal and brown/white is ground out of the sensor.

Ground is at Climatronic Pin 9 and is shared with a bunch of the temperature/recirc flaps. On the auto A/C cars signal goes to a blue wire to Pin 8 on the Climatronic, on the manual A/C cars it goes to gray/green wire at Pin 8.

I can't find the sensor hooked up to anything else but I may have missed it. I am not sure where the dash lighting gets its ambient light signal from to adjust brightness. Maybe the signal is shared over the CAN bus?

I would've thought just an internal thermometer would’ve sufficed for that, similar to a thermostat in your house. I guess that’s why I’m not an automotive engineer.

There is an ambient light sensor in the speedometer.

On a Lexus we owned many years ago, the climate control adjusted the fan speed if the windows were lowered. There are lots of little details you don't think about unless you surround yourself engineering these things every day!!!

This is awesome. In my years of owning and modifying cars, I've always wanted to give them an OEM+ style, adding stuff that didn't came from factory but doesn't scream it's aftermarket. Thanks Cristopher for this, I'll be placing an order next month.

Quick question for international buyers, I am based in Spain, did any of the folks from Europe pay some import taxes on this item?

Thank You and about the taxes:
It looks like the import taxes & fees in Europe are usually somewhere between $20 and $40
I am now declaring the value on the customs form as $25, hope that helps a little
