And just to get your excitement (for the "wart unit" aka. SportChrono replacement) even higher: I just added a new screen where you can now monitor oil temp and oil pressure in one screen.
Installed! Works like a charm. The hard part is as advertised getting the wire for he sensor threaded down - I used a long zip tie and some long needlenose pliers in the effort.
This version is out there too:
Noting of course - as advised above - the VW / Audi version switch is not compatible, but the label ring is with the Porsche body.

want automatic headlights in your 997/987?
Go to www.997research.com
A quick update to my auto-headlight module for 997. Following up on a great idea by a couple Rennlisters I created an additional variant for 9x7.1, called the "DRL option".
“DRL option” means, that the owner can have the front fog lights and/or the side markers (aka parking lights) automatically on with the ignition.(No warnings or error codes).
Please refer to the last 3 pages of the installation manual on how to configure these options to your liking.
The device ships by default with “front fog lights on”. Go to www.997research.com for more info and to order.
Since someone asked me, a quick clarification:
With the "DRL option" enabled, the fog lights will be on, independent if the headlights are on or off.
Happy Motoring!

@blaster88 it literally started yesterday.
Just to clarify: this is a new hardware variant with it's own SKU and a slightly higher price to compensate for the additional costs I have.
In the picture below you see the "standard" motherboard on top and the "DRL option" motherboard at the bottom.
HOWEVER, if you'd like to upgrade to this version, contact me directly at info@997research.com and I'm sure we'll work something out.
So I installed the module yesterday. Super happy with the results. It takes no more than 15-20 minutes and most of the time is finding a way to mount the module in a way that it won't potentially rattle. I also found it very helpful to remove the dashboards's side trim panels so maybe this can be mentioned in the installation manual as well. If I wanted to be extra picky I would perhaps want it a bit faster reacting to light changes but I only tested it inside the garage, so real life testing is pending.
Overall a great effort which we enthusiasts should definitely support! The seller was great as well and took good care of the package and all the issues of sending it to Europe.

I see that you have the Morimoto headlights - I just got those, too, together with 991-style DRL fog lights. I have your previous version - which lights will turn on with the ignition, and which ones will turn on when the lights are on at night?

Hi @smrpr with your version, the only thing that will happen is that the headlights (and taillights) will turn on when it's dark.
I would wire the Morimotos as I described it here (start at post #48) https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...wH9SGGNG6jA7WO
Using the supplied box from Morimoto is total overkill.
And - funny enough - I noticed that Morimoto must have read this post as they basically incorporated these instructions into their own :-)
And if you want to use the same connectors as Morimoto uses, here they are:

Good to hear that it finally arrived. I was wondering how long it would take to Greece. In the tracking app it still shows as "wait for delivery"
Thanks for the feedback with the side-panel.
About comment with the reaction time:
Well, you don't want it to react too fast, otherwise the lights come on every time when you drive under a tree. Currently (it i remember it right) it waits for 1.5 seconds of consistent darkness, then it turns on.
