Default New Head Unit Second Time

Had the original PCM replaced with a Pioneer AVIC and JL 600/6 amplifier approximately 10 years ago. With the technology advancements and being not fully satisfied with the telephone microphone set up, decided on this DIY project:

  • New Android head unit;
  • Enfig microphone; and
  • Replacement of the sticky climate control buttons.

With the initial PCM upgrade, the installation removed the OEM harness and replaced with a different one from Euro Motor Speed. Installing the current head unit was a slight challenge as the the new head unit was a plug and play with the OEM harness.

Considering the OEM harness gone, this was an interesting activity. A bit of wire colour education and soldering, very pleased with the system.

Also purchased and Enfig microphone that is placed inside the steering column where a microphone slot already exists. Excellent result.

Lastly, replaced the sticky buttons.

New head unit appears to be a similar look as the PCCM.

Default Radio

It matches the interior well. Looks stock. How long did it take to receive it once ordered? What was the final price on the head unit? Thanks

Delivery was three weeks from China to Canada. The price was $900 CAD for the 4/64G DSP, dependent on options.

The sound is very good. Came with Digital Sound Processing and 48EQ. Better than the Pioneer, the JL amp from the previous installation helps.

I just ordered one for my turbo at 477 why not. It should be plug and play as I have the stock radio. One of the most stock looking aftermarket radios I have seen.

Same thought patterns here. The USD pricing is low for you and should be a rather simple installation. If you have the Bose amp with fibre optic, would need to purchase a RCA output signal converter to fibre optic if it is not already included.

Does that DSP have time alignment? If it does, that will make a tremendous difference in the sound. It's encouraging that they are putting DSP's in the head units now. I may upgrade eventually if that is an option, but the car's exhaust notes are still winning my ears over for now.

That looks good. Not sure what the difference would be (vs Apple I phone /Apple play compatible) being that this is an Android based (Samsung?) system, would it work with an I phone? (sorry, I am a technical idiot in this area)
Also, I have the stock base unit with no CD changer- would this be plug and play? The fit is a bit off at the bottom sides or is that more just photo distortion?

Android is a Java based programming language that is open source and is used for many apps while the Apple IOS programming is more restrictive.

The head unit is Android based and the software installed called TLink and provides an IPhone wireless Bluetooth connection. Also has software for AndroidAuto for Android based phones, but may be wired. I use IPhones, so the wireless works with the new head unit.

The new harness should work, but if you have a Bose fibre optic, you would need a converter. Should be plug and play, but contact seller to confirm as they may have different harnesses for different applications. My installation was different as the OEM system was removed.

There is a slight overhang on the bottom sides, but is hardly noticeable.
