Tell him Happy Holidays, you'll treat him to one way ticket to Seattle and he can buy a nice 2014 991 4S Manual Transmission w/12K miles for $65K which is a great deal:
Just don't show him these:

I did some searching - this car is in Portland - not Seattle. It sold for $39.5k the end of January in Utah. I can't believe someone was able to put a working car back together from this scrap heap.

My thought exactly. I've seen cars with what appeared to have far less damage totaled.

Forgive my ignorance but isn't it possible it was actually totaled for insurance purposes and then sent to scrap (or whatever) and then rebuilt as a salvage? If not, how does that work? I know there are other ways to wind pop with a salvage title but would that have been the case here?
This is why I google the VIN number for any car before I purchase it.
That said, if the price is right and if the seller has VERY detailed pictures of the work done and receipts/invoices, I'm not sure that I'd run away from a rebuilt car. A flood damaged car is another story.... I'd never buy one of those. I can't imagine chasing electrical gremlins in perpetuity. That would drive me insane, and there is no cost savings that would make that worth it.
^^I feel the same way but only if it was a screaming deal. I wouldn't hesitate buying this 991 if it had a $45K asking price.
$65K no freakin way
I'd pay an access fee to listen in on the Salesman "pitch" to unsuspecting buyers. I can think of a few: - Oh yeah, the previous owner was on mushrooms one night celebrating selling his start up. He disassembled the car and forgot to put it back together and they moved him into a Psych Ward.
-Yeah crazy story, previous owner took the car apart looking for contact lens. Wound up losing the other in his frantic attempt. Couldn't see to put the car back together.
Any others??

I forgot all about that Jared thread. Have to remember early on he said it was an "Exploration of a 997"
Great title for the Horror Movie. Classic Thread - Jared gonna B missed
I think it was DIY. He was changing thermostat, cleaning the radiators, and swapping out the stereo but couldn’t remember how it all went back together.
