The smoothness and power is only going to increase as the miles mount.

180 miles so far and with every mile it just feels better! It makes me giggle now and I can’t even get into it, I really can’t imagine what it will be like when it is at 100%. The wait to get past the 1k mile mark is going to be harder than the wait to get the motor back!!

Just over 400 miles and it feels amazing, I really can’t get over just how much smoother the engine feels and how quick it is even shifting at 5k rpms. I did have some oil loss within the 1st couple drives (I added ~1.5 qt). Talking to Jake and Judd some loss is expected on break in and it actually needs closer to 10qt on the very 1st fill, so I probably had it a bit under filled. Loss has basically stopped between 100 miles and 400 miles.

Not sure I will make the 1000 miles before winter really hits here, but I am trying. My routine has been to drive it 30 miles to work, park it for 9hrs drive 30 mile home park it for 12hrs then repeat. I really like this process because it allows complete heating and cooling.

"but I am trying. My routine has been to drive it 30 miles to work, park it for 9hrs drive 30 mile home park it for 12hrs then repeat" You have the weekends for some nice long trips to get you there; pleas don't make us wait until after winter.....

Also, is the limit up to 5k rpm before the full 1k mile break-in? Nevermind-read it in your previous initial posts after start up

Yes 5k to 1k miles and it is killing me! Got out for 80 miles today, this thing feels more like a beast every single drive, I think 1st and 2nd gear will go by in a blink once I can really “give it the beans”. Unfortunately, it is snowing out right now, so I am probably done until mid week and hopefully the salt isn’t a big issue.

Had it out today for a Thanksgiving run. I really just can’t get over how different the car feels and sounds, even limited to 5k rpms! It really is how this car should have been from the factory. At the risk of getting flamed, the only way I can describe it is how I imagine a Singer must feel when I watch a video on YouTube. The car is noticeably faster, in fact I actually spun the tires a bit rolling on it hard in 1st, which would have never happened before. But I am starting to understand what Jake and everyone says when they say it isn’t about the max power, it is about how it drives.

Anyway happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Got my car Back yesterday, and everything @bgoetz is saying is on point. Break in ECU is capped at 5k rpm but it already pulls so hard . Prior to sending mine in, I already had SOUL headers and sport cats with Fisters and GT3 TB and I thought it sounded awesome then. It sounds like a freaking animal now when I get on it. I’m 125mi in so it’s still early and it’s only going to get better?! This is crazy…I can’t wait.

What's the details of your build? Did you get the new air box? New x-pipe? What stage? R-series?

Sure…I had the exclusive Service( sent car to FSI) Stage II 4.0L with all available performance options selected (piston upgrade, Race Level Dynamic Balancing, FSI high performance Coil Packs, FSI Custom ECU tune with hand held tuner with 4 different pre programmed tunes)
My car already had SOUL headers and Sport Cats with Fister mufflers and IPD Plenum/GT3 TB. Because I already had the Soul high flow cats I didn’t elect to get the Raby x-pipe system. But if I didn’t I would have absolutely gotten them. As for the FSI Carbon fiber airbox, unfortunately they are at the tail end of development and not available yet. But will definitely be getting one when I can. It is already a beast and I’m still in break-in mode.
