Just ordered this conversion kit from Nick at NM automotive. He says it should ship next week when they get more stock in. Excited for the conversion and the camera I picked up from this thread too! Thanks for the great ideas everyone!

@doclouie would you be willing to do a write up of the install? I'm ready to pull the trigger. I'm not the best wrench, but decent--and I love an adventure. Adventures are best with a guide.
Cheers,

I installed my kit from NmAutomotive myself on my 997.2. Also added the reversing camera. Very happy with it.

OK, got the kit, and I've done all of the PCM internal work; now it's down to re-installing everything in the car. Where did you guys put the NM automotive "box"? It doesn't seem like there will be enough room directly behind the PCM with the double quad-connector back there. My DCS controller crowds the space above the right passenger footwell. The logical space behind the heat/ac controls is packed full of wire harnesses. There's a bit of room above the driver's right knee to the right of the steering wheel.
@doclouie @lordvonpineapple @whacko77uk @Helios where did your CarPlay boxes get stashed?

Follow up question: where'd you put the USB port?

Cheers,

The box is behind the aircon controls in the centre stack, the usb is in the glove box and the mic stuck to the cowling under the steering column towards one side so it does not affect any adjustment.

The box is in the same spot, but my usb routes just below the pcm in that little cubby hole space, and my mic is routed to the top left corner of the roof.

I just installed my CarPlay from NM Automitive and I totally like it.
There's one thing I haven't figured out: How do I talk to Siri (is there a hidden button somewhere)?

No buttons just say hey Siri and you will see the colourful splash on the screen.

Remember you don’t need to have the mic in a visible position as it is only for Siri, phone is still handled by the PCM.

MHAuto in the UK is just putting their sticker on the box :-)

Might be possible to get a better price by going direct to the manufacturer

I would guess (?) that the Joyaudio units are probably manufactured by the same outfit based on the pictures and similarities in whats in the box...
If going down the Unichip route, what one would be needed for a 2011 gen 2? I assume this one:

@doclouie (or anyone else)
I got the same backup camera that you did, but the wiring is somehow fooling me. I did a dry test before running the wire and it didn't work.
I plugged the yellow composite into the NM box and attached the red wire that comes out of the composite (see photo) to the purple power wire from the NM box (as per NM instructions). The camera also has red/black wiring (photo below) that are intended to splice into the taillight power, but NM says to use the power from the box as it is switched on by CANBUS rather than power to the reverse light.
Can you tell me exactly how you wired your backup camera?

Many thanks!
JV

This red wire to purple power wire in NM box??

or this red wire to power at rear lights??
