Note to Porsche classic - 997 PCCM plus request

I'm waiting for someone to confirm that you can use an aftermarket backup cam with this. My '06 doesn't have a factory cam, so I need to add aftermarket. I'd like to find someone I trust here in DFW to do this install but might have to go to the dealer.

since its a chinese android deck, you MAY be able to run a standard android pcm harness that has usb ports into the porsche pcm (assuming the port inputs havent been disabled via the OS).
but there are no usb ports - at best there may be a usb input harness that you would plug in, like all Chinese android decks.
Since the manual is out, id advise checking that out.

That would quite likely work, but where would you get one separately? My bet would be on trying some of the Ali express connectors for USB and see if they work. If I had to bet, I'd say there's a 90% chance one will work, at least in terms of electrical connections. Then there's about a 75% chance it will work with the software on the PCCM+. Pretty good odds, in short, but we won't know until somebody tries (My optimism is based purely on a long history of just trying this kind of thing -- and time and again finding out manufacturers haven't tried to reinvent the wheel and usually start with fairly standard hardware and software designs, which they then customize.)

You would have to try and see if it is recognized. If not, someone over time may (or may not) be able to hack into the OS to have it enabled.

Oh wow, that's great news. Just to confirm, you're in the US? Where did you buy it from?

During the Christmas holidays I went over to Porsche of North Houston and paid for it with a promise of 2 weeks delivery. But it arrived much quicker. I got an alert that it would be delivered last week. Unfortunately I had already agreed to go on a cruise with my wife in the Caribbean for New Years. And it has already been delivered. Our cruise ends on the 6th.
MYW, what about Mr12Volt? https://www.mr12volt.com/collections.../p600-lp1605po
Do you think this might work to add a working USB?

Available in North America- Installed mine 12-31-22 997.1 C4S
Got a call from the dealership and was told they unpacked their shipment and a single PCCM+ was in it. Part # 997.642.591.00
I rushed over, bought it and installed the same day. An absolute game changer. Significant quality of life enhancements. In addition to all the features listed on the side of the box (see photo) automatic headlights, temperature control and other integrations transport the 997 experience ahead more than a decade.
NOTE - they do not ship with any installation instructions. There’s a YouTube video of an installation in the UK from 2 weeks ago I used for reference here:

Has anybody given a price on this? Suncoast let’s you add it to your cart at $0.00 to get on the waitlist but I haven’t seen a US price unless I missed it in this thread.

Man, there really needs to be some more compelling arguments for it to be an option IMO. I like the possibility that the back up cam is possibly an option. I like the integration and updates it brings to the platform, but I just can’t get past the “wired” CarPlay for $1500. I understand P-Car tax, but for me that might be a bridge too far. I really want to want it, just don’t understand why in this day and age it’s not available. Yes, I saw the post about sound quality, but it seems most of us wouldn’t notice the difference anyhow. Time will tell, I guess.
