Agree. The force from the airbag trying to deploy may now make the entire center of the steering wheel a huge projectile.

God...I wish I had the ***** to do this...I absolutely love the nardi Kallista wheel in Mahogany and black perforated leather but so many people told me I'll get messages forever and the car will be impossible to correct...I might give it one more try with a high end Porsche guy in town.

My Porsche tech won't do it because he's not able to override the airbag light!

The final piece came in (OEM leather airbag)! I'm not sure if this is the final version but it is at least a very close representation of the vision. Thanks to everyone on here for the examples/info!

Changed out the sport wheel for this flat bottomed, thicker, Alcantara/Nappa piece, also refreshed the center console and added Function First delrin shifter on reassembly. Much thanks as always for those that share tips and tricks to self performing these mods🙏

OK, my winter project here ... wanted to upgrade to a 991.2 wheel in my 997.1, but my challenge was how to colour match it to the natural brown leather.

After considering options, I picked up a Cayenne wheel that was in rather rough shape from a local yard for a pretty good price, and sent it off to Exclusive Option to have it refinished in the natural brown.

While waiting for that to be finished, I picked up all the other parts to remove multi-function and the paddles and sourced a leather air bag.

Cant wait to get this installed in the car later this week, going to be a huge upgrade over the worn 997.1 sport wheel!

Ledermanz. I removed all pieces, shipped to Latvia, and reinstalled. Sand beige alcantara with matching stitching. Went for oem+ here besides the flat bottom, which Is different. Still looks like new after 5 years.

Hi Gary, congrats on your car!! Very nicely done. I´ve just bought a 2006 997.1 C2 manual, and I´m starting with the mods. One mod I´m planning to do is install the Momo 07 steering wheel. How did you disabled the airbag light? Any advice is welcomed-
