i'm in the process of doing this now for my 997.1. I have everything but the harness and airbag. Any chance you have the part number on the harness you used? Did the metal retainer come with it? I cant find a P/N for that and want to make sure i have everything i need. Airbag/harness will be ordered through Sunset but havent heard back from Luke yet on this yet (and havent chased either). Any help is much appreciated!

Wheel i'm working on about half complete and stock pics below for reference

Best of the stock 997 steering wheels, IMO. Simple clean design (no buttons), no bling, matte textures, efficient form-factor. Timeless choice.

Attachment 1340349

MACarbon perforated leather 9 and 3, Alcantara top/bottom, carbon 12 o’clock ring, custom stitching to match interior, thicker overall. Love it.

Where did you order this from? I thought they weren't available.

Here is the label from the box with the part number. No other parts were required to do the replacement. I had a dealer do the install (I wasn't prepared to work with an airbag).

Default Question about airbag

So, can you reuse the existing airbag or do you have to buy a new one if you?

There are some very tasteful steering wheels and interiors on this thread. On the other hand I hope some of you have kept your original pieces and parts - finding someone with your same taste may be a long wait. resale may be challenging.

There are plenty of used steering wheels available for sale for either a seller or prospective buyer. I can’t see a steering wheel being an impediment to a sale given it’s such a quick and easy transition.

Very clean and tasteful. Can I ask what size wheel this is? I have a 350mm Montecarlo on order right now and hoping I made the right choice in size.

Thanks. Mine is the MoMo Mod.07. It's 350mm in diameter as well. I think you will like the size.

I owned this car before you. Congrats. She was always loved and maintained with an open check book.

How is an airbag supposed to puncture through that alcantara? Feels unsafe?

The plastic and even leather in factory cars' airbags is made very thin at those points
