No recline or seat height built into the seat itself?

I wonder if you could use side mount bucket seat brackets instead of factory brackets to adjust height and recline, thoughts?
@Busta Rib
Correct except the tilt forward is only for access to the rear seats. There's no tilt adjustment for driving position. Just forward/backward. That's it. I've been told that brackets on the forward mounts can be used to adjust the tilt. Not sure if brackets can be used on all mounts to adjust the height but I don't see why that wouldn't be a possibility. Lucky me. I'm 6'3" and with the seats all the way back I'm getting just about the perfect driving position. If I were to nitpick I could use a bit of tilt backwards but rather than messing with the brackets I just compensate by sliding forward a bit in the seat and I'm good with that.

A couple aftermarket vendors also sell side mount brackets that include adjustment holes specifically for these seats if needed.

I believe Cantrell offers a set with the adjustment holes. I don't see them listed on their site but contact them: https://cantrellmotorsport.com/

Fake news removed, Thanks @Busta Rib

I have seen these IRL on a 997 https://www.tarett.com/items/986-987...slb-detail.htm and can be used to tilt the seat.

My solution to tilting the GT2 bucket seat for a more reclined position:

Thank you all for the suggestions on reclining the seat.

Nerd level indeed 10!
I love seeing projects/mods that retain OEM equipment

Everyone on here has raved on the comfort of these seats, for those that have upgraded from the comfort seats, can you speak on long trip comfort?

Context:
I picked up a 997 and made a 7hr drive home in one day, and 3/4 of the drive my lower back was suffering.
I rented a 997 GTS with the adaptive sport seats and a 997.1 with the comfort seats, a month ago, for a few days, and I don't remember either of the seats being that bad
Goal is to get comfortable seats for day long drives that hold the body while at trackdays.

I upgraded from 18 way adaptive seats. The longest trip I made with the GT2 seats in stock form before I did the recline mod was from Washington DC to NYC for the 911's on 911 event. It was about a 5-6 hour journey stopping twice for food and restroom. Sat in a tiny bit of traffic here and there. Comfort was excellent. The only gripe I had was the seating positioning being too upright, but it was nothing hateful and it didn't leave me sitting in an uncomfortable position. Once in NY, I got out of the car relaxed and loose with no back pain or stiffness. The seats are work to get in and out of when you're thinking of protecting the bolsters, but once you're in them they really hold you in and are comfy.

If you're lower back was suffering in the GT2 seats, it is likely because the lumbar support is non-existent and there is also no kind of adjustment for that. If you have natural good posture when standing or sitting where your lower back is always upright and almost arched inward, and your shoulders are pinned back, I could see this seat (and any others like it) being uncomfortable, as the narrow shoulder bolsters and flat lumbar section basically forces you to sit opposite to how you would naturally sit. I would look into a way to fashion some kind of lumbar support into the seat - it shouldn't be that hard, as the seat bottom and seat back cushions are both removable.

My back was suffering in the stock comfort seats.
I haven't had a chance to sit in GT2 seats yet, so I have no idea how my body will conform to it. Hoping to find someone local to the San Francisco area that will let me sit in theirs.

I imagine if someone really needed lumbar support, they could install an inflatable insert, or maybe add an additional pad on the lumbar area behind the cushion.

To save someone else the hassle, I can confirm that the Torqued recliner brackets are not compatible with the 997 folding buckets...totally different rail design than the 991 LWBs.

Thanks for all the great information on the 997 GT2 seats. I just purchased a 987 Cayman with these in them. I haven't had an opportunity to test them out-engine being rebuilt. Guess will have to wait another few more months!

Photo of them installed in my 997 GT3, I also have the same seats and bolster covers in my 997 GTS as well.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread - It seems that you have the 997 GT2 seats from Gert - What seats came originally in your 997.2? Did you have heat? I am going to attempt retrofitting 997 GT2 buckets into our 997.1 but we are curious on lights and air bag compatibility. Currently have Recaro Pole Position ABEs installed and wanted to go for a more OE option. AFAIK, 991 GT2 RoW seats will definitely throw the airbag light. My car did not have heated seats from factory, only Sport Seats w/ alcantara centers (non-heated).

Your Pole Position seats do not have passenger airbag weight sensor that plugs into the car, does it? Otherwise it would have thrown the airbag light, so you must have had it coded out and I would think RoW GT2 seats would be fine in your car. Unless you install the seat heating button and code it into the car, I do not think it will matter that the seat has heating element.

I installed ROW 991 folding buckets from Gert. Yes, heat works if you already have heat in your car. Yes, you need to code out the resultant errors due to the lack of a passenger sensor. My local Porsche tech did the coding on my seats but a good friend of mine recently installed the same seats in his 997 Turbo and he was able to code out the errors using the Foxwell tool. Check my build thread (link in my sig) for details. Good luck!
