Thanks. Never heard of Guido before. Doesn't match my issue. The trans mounts might be it.

My car was make very similar noises to yours. Replaced the guibo and the noise went away. A bad guibo is like a bad universal joint. It makes a clanking sound when the car goes from froward to reverse. While you are under there for the trans mount remove the guido and check it. It can't really be checked when installed.
Also check all the CV joints and wheel bearings for excessive play.
