Was a terrific dealership given his and it's rep but I did all my buying in LA proper. He was a Czech and not a Polack!

That was a lot of pics of a lot of cars you posted. Looked like a fun meet!
I did not know that he had died in that fashion.

Some would say, he died doing what he loved, despite being a nasty way to go.

I do love a good NA car.

... that's the Video from last week. A 56 year old on German Autobahn with his 20 y Son on the passenger seat in his GT3, apparently was doing an illegal race with an AMG... overtaking at more than 120 mph in a Zone where speed limit is 75mph wasn't a good idea, because speed limit is there because of bumps in the road and you can see the effect. After crashing into the woods, car went into flames immediately. Driver and passenger were killed instantly.

My thoughts are with the Wife and the Son...

I'm impressed that the rim appears to be ok.

Those are some beautiful cars at that show. Is it an annual event? Most of the meets are a long way from my area. The roads here are horrible and I don't want to risk the front end or windshield damage. Took 4 months to finally get the windshield replaced correctly without flaws.

I rolled my 4-post out of the garage to do some deep cleaning on the undercarriages on the cars this weekend. The 911 is pretty clean so it didn't really look a whole lot different, but it's still nice to spruce it up. Some day I'll get it dry ice blasted to get what's left of the cosmoline off. Maybe when I pull the motor for a refresh.

The Talon was the real reason for making the effort to put the lift in the driveway. It's been a PNW car it's whole life so it's pretty clean, but now it's about as clean as a 33 year old former daily driver can get. This winter I'm going to remove everything from under the car and paint/powder coat everything and install new bushings. While everything is apart I'll Raptor Line the undercarriage too so it will look brand new again.

That is a really sweet setup. How do you roll the lift out?

It has castors that attach to it, pretty clever design actually. The wheels are mounted on arms that attach to the posts, then you lower the deck onto them and the weight of that pushes the wheels down and lifts the posts off the ground enough to roll it around.

Thanks! The original owner/builder of the house laid every brick himself in 1988. I can't imagine how much it would cost to have one built like this nowadays. Even more impressive is how level it still is after all these years.

The 997 RS front uprights make the 996 GT/Cup ones look so dainty.....

I'm a sucker for paver or brick driveways. I've had one at every house I've owned. They won't crack and will last forever. It's one of the best curb appeal yet functional upgrades you can do to a home. I had a paver driveway done at my house a few years ago replacing the asphalt that was there before. Ended up being 130 pallets of pavers stacked up and down the street. I think my neighbors wanted to kill me. If yours is level after all these years then the prep was done right. This normally entails excavating the existing surface at least 12" deep, filling it with crushed road base, and compacting it really well after which the bedding sand and pavers are laid. If they do this, the driveway will never sink and remain level.

Looks great brother! Yeah, the standard 996GT3/3 carriers look like a toy compared to the Motorsport units. Looks like Porsche changed the design of the hubs. The last set I installed were a 991 part number but there were still of the old hub design.

Happened on the freeway at a good clip. When it went down, I could feel it immediately but was in the far left lane and had to work my way through heavy traffic to the right shoulder, so unavoidable to drive on it for at least several hundred yards.

There was some serious rubber transfer onto the fender lip, but it cleaned up with no paint damage. I was also surprised the wheel is as far as I can tell unblemished. Still need to get the old tire peeled off of it, but looks ok. Fortunately these were my older Apex wheels, not the new ones i just bought.

And yes, i know it is 'best practice' to use the emergency spare on the front, not the rear, and move the full size front to the rear if the rear goes flat, but It was a pretty sketchy shoulder and a extremely busy highway and I wanted to spend as little time in the death zone as possible. Fortunately this happened only a few miles from my house and I was able to limp it home with the spare on the rear.
