They are extremely reliable cars, however, you just need to be aware that anything can happen at any time and repairs can be expensive. If your motor goes, it's going to be 10-20k before you are driving again, most likely well north of 10k. It will be worth it in the long run, just understand it could happen. I drove my car 150,000 miles over 18 years and it was extremely reliable, however we did need to get into the motor once for an intermediate shaft issue and it was a complete motor tear down at 90,000 miles.

Whenever I read of this gentleman's car and its exploits, I stop thinking of my car as a "high mileage" specimen. I do think PCNA or Porsche AG should somehow award him in some renumerative kind of way.
