What a great story. Something deeply satisfying about a great car, very well cared for, driven and enjoyed lot.

I wonder how long the carbon ceramic brakes and rotors last, considering he does all those track days as well?

Factory says 300,000kms for gen 1s.
I have 85k on mine and there is less than 1mm of wear from new.

I’m new here because I intend buying a 996 turbo. I’ve followed this thread with jaw dropping disbelief. Over a million kilometres with only a clutch and transmission change plus a prophylactic engine rebuild which wasn’t really needed. Truly amazing and a credit to your surgical like maintenance. This sort of mileage is in Mack truck territory, and Mack trucks don’t do track days!
This begs the question is your experience an outlier? Or are there people out there with reliability horror stories despite carrying out all the requisite maintenance to high standards?
I ask because the car I’ll end up buying will most likely have in the region of having 50-80,000 miles on it. Starting with a clean PPI and then following your frequent maintenance schedule, I’m hoping to have such trouble free motoring. Fingers crossed!

He is saying that many many cars have passed the 100,000 mile mark with zero major problems. A well-maintained car is almost as desirable to someone who’s going to drive it often as a low mileage car.
