So... how much boost can the 3B turbos sustain efficiently?

The question really isn't how much can they sustain, It's what RPM that they can sustain it too.. And I don't have answer to that question. Yet.. But from what I have seen so far it will be between 7400-7800 RPM..

Kevin - I thought turbo efficiency, in relation to maximum boost, was typically a reference point. For example, I've heard you mention the K16 being out of thier efficiency range over 1.0 (?) bar.

So if RPM is the parameter, what's KPG talking about with the 9000 RPM chatter? Doest the top secrect project use different turbos that will be efficient at these high RPMs?

Stage 4 does require new "special" turbochargers.. Please note that Stage 4 is in the development/engineering stage it's process. I think that KPG reference was to the hearty rev happy GT3R crankshaft, or the ability of the crankshaft.

The future Stage 4 kit requires crankshaft oiling solutions. And crankcase support. If KPG was ever to step up to Stage 4 he would have to tear into his engine to address these issues. He felt that this was the time to do it. Spend the money once..

Keep saving Geoffrey Unfortunately you won't get any nice chassis dyno numbers out of one of these

TB, I would love to see your collection of engine dyno pics, since everytime a chassis dyno is mentioned you have a new photo of one....Impressive, indeed Kevin

To see the same graph + other data , buy the Paul Frere 911 story. All good stuff for those days.

Stummel,
The graph is for a factory 2.14 935 in 1980. Page 287 Paul Frere , 911 story.
20 years on ,an engine dyno data aquisition sytem would produce something a little more detailed !!

I bet there were dozens and dozens of pages of precise engine datalogs backing those rudimentary two lines, for the 935 to have been the success that it was. My engine dyno lines were just as fugly, yet nicer ones wouldn't have made my car any faster!
