If I hear one more time the POS dynojet and its magic formula shop created "correction factor".......

The ONLY chassis dyno that counts is a MAHA, PERIOD, and all the GT2's or 996tt's or the notoriously "underrated" GT3 I have seen dynod within 5-7 hp of their advertised rating...............Porsche ,Daimler , BMW or Audi, hell even Borgward, NSU or DKW in the old days never ever gave away hp/tq for free. Why some people follow that thought is beyond me .

So, if the GT2/996tt are underated by this at around 30-50 hp myth then the Carr GT must be at least a 100 hp off its advertised rating...............LOL

Pole,
O.T.: how about Ford and Chevy in 1969 for Trans Am Racing?
Ford 302 c.in. 290 hp/290 lbft of torque
Chevy 302 (ala 1969 z-28 of which I had in High School) == same 290/290.
Underrated or Not??
BTW, I agree with Porsche and Modern Manus: Not underrated and my PSI 480 kit...
it performs like it has about 480 hp???

I have no experience with over or underrated musclecars but have driven and owned some of them . I have to admit that the seat of the pants/tq rush/noise in comparison to actual performance can be very misleading IMO.

I was just reading the November issue of Road and Track, which includes a test of the 3,610 lb curb weight, 480 HP 997TT manual and automatic models. Included in the data is 1/4 mile ET and trap speeds for both models.

The R&T test results are as follows:

6 speed manual
11.8 @ 116.2

Tiptronic
11.6 @ 118.3

Using a 1/4 mile HP calculator and a weight of 3,800 lbs (includes driver), this is what it calculates:

Manual transmission:
Trap Speed Method: approx. 465 HP
ET Method: approx. 457 HP

Tiptronic transmission:
Trap Speed Method: approx. 491 HP
ET Method: approx. 481 HP

This is pretty close to the Porsche claimed 480 HP, especially on the quicker tiptronic transmission.

The more interesting question is precision (which deals with the variability of the measurement system e.g., repeatability and reproducibility). Without knowledge of the measurement system's precision (which I have yet to see studied or reported for any dyno or other speed/hp measurement system) most of the claims are just that...claims.
In the Air Force we called this..."Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with a greese pencil, and cut it ith an ax".
