Anyone know the recent history of this one — was “sold inventory” and now it’s not (plus a small price drop)..?

Default Blue GT3

Think this may be the one that was listed by PA euros a year ago, and then it was bought or traded for by some dealer in Florida who had it for sale, I got the records from him, they’re not a whole lot of records, but the engine was rebuilt by some auto mechanics garage, and the whole front of its peppered with a lot of stone chips. Plus, it has a few miles on it.

Yep, saw the PA history somewhere…clearly a track car — was the cage taken out when you looked at it? The “auto mechanics garage” that rebuilt the engine you refer to — are you implying they were not Porsche / GT3 specialists? Someone might have thought they had a deal until they didn’t in the last week — too bad, looks nicely spec’d…

Yea, it was dealer-flipped 2-3 times in a year.

Thanks guys — was the cage out already when it was in FL? And is it implied that a non-Porsche specialist rebuilt the engine..? Looks like someone had a deal in the last week and then didn’t re re-list at current dealer — too bad, looks like a nice spec!

it was not a Porsche specialty shop, and it was apparently messed with before that was not in the records. The thing is, is that the seller was not being honest about it he said it had an engine repair from a noise in the engine, but this looks like a complete tear down to reassemble, and who knows how well it was done. It was not done by a specialty Porsche shop, or any place with any kind of a web presence that you can kind of judge the quality of work

The color is stunning, but the detailed photos I got showed a ton of touched up rock chips, and the Engine has been apart, at least twice, and not by somebody who is known for building good engines. This car was like 139,000 when I looked at it it collective and it’s traded hands again and it’s going to need to be a lot cheaper to move because it’s not a premium car like they’re representing it to be.

I believe it sold for no more than $115k on the first flip and it had aftermarket parts that were removed along the journey.

Hey that’s me!

Back when I owned PA Euros I bought this car from a client in California. It’s a pretty damn clean car all around. No major paint issues. Front had a half clear PPF done at some point, likely early on in its life. There were some stone chips higher in the hood but nothing crazy.

From what I was told, the previous owner was a pretty active Rennlist member and my client got the car from him. He was in the Pittsburgh area and tracked the car pretty often. He had a pretty knowledgeable shop work on the car (shown in the receipts) for many years. There was a large folder full of receipts. At one point I believe there was an internal engine issue that caused the engine to be dropped to address the problem. Some other stuff was done while in there, including coolant line welding I believe.

The car ran well and pulled strong. As strong as my non-tracked 996 GT3 I had at the time with less mileage. The engine was a little noisier than my OEM engine GT3 but that was at idle. Once under load, there wasn’t any differences. I can’t speak for what was removed from the car since I had it. I do know it went to a Florida dealer, then a Dallas wholesaler where it sold for big money at auction (I think around 130k). That buying dealer likely lost a ton of money on the car and then I lost track of it.

It’s sad, as it’s a nice car that’s gotten a bad wrap from being passed around the last year. It’s probably a $105-110k car.

Hope this helps.

Never buy color or a cheap price thinking you can save it. There are NO deals. Only buyers remorse.

This is great advice. No one should ever deviate from this exhortation, because every car guy is exactly the same when it comes to their preferences, risk tolerance, diy skills (and willingness to diy), car usage intentions, expected ownership duration, financial wherewithal, etc.... I've tried loving "perfect" cars in a color I didn't love, and they never lasted. I have to have that emotional attachment to the aesthetics of a car, but I will readily admit that's because its just how I'm wired. And I don't have any "collector" cars...they are all drivers and get driven every week. For that reason, and because working on my cars and diy'ing little projects (and some big) here and there constitute a welcome distraction from my less-than-fun civil litigation work life, I actually prefer "light" project cars with some history (at the right price) that I can drive, track, enjoy and improve over time as time and funds (and spousal buy-in) permits! That's what keeps my interest and keeps things fun (for me). Plus, I like to mod my cars so I'm not super interested in paying a premium for an all original car that I'm just going to bastardize to my likings later! For others, it may be that they value 100% originality and condition and that is what floats their boat. Or it may be that the solitary rock chip or peeling corner of dash leather ruins the experience and create annoyance every time the car leaves the driveway. But that's not me! Those issues are just future projects and part of the hobby!

Your mileage may vary of course.

Scott (the guy with the Red $39k gt3 with accident history and Pep Boys seats which he has transformed into his "dream car" after 5 years of mostly diy labor, ebay parts hunting, and some admittedly big dollars spent making the car into an absolute monster on the road and track).
