I don't want to bad mouth Friedman, business is business (supply and demand), and like most, they are aware of the natural supply issues with the 996.2.
From Hagerty:
"Generally speaking, about 15 percent of vehicles leave the market every year. Of those, most are newer than you’d expect—those between roughly 10 and 20 years old see the highest rates of attrition, according to data from IHS/Markit. Where they go is a bit of a mystery. Many get scrapped, to be sure, but bookkeeping at junkyards is unreliable, to say the least. Moreover, a vehicle that’s “gone” could very well be parked safely in someone’s garage. This is particularly true of collector cars."
I’m in the market and looking everywhere for the right car and because I’m really looking for yellow or red I’m getting to see cars on autotrader, cars.com etc time and again, over the last moth there seems to have been a noticeable drop in listing price for GT3’s, turbos and other models that interest me - anything nephrite green interior, 996’s, 7’s even a 992 that a friend sold to a dealer 6 months ago for $205k and it’s now listed for $209k. Jayemm just put out a video seeing same in the UK. Is this just a moment in time or a downward trend? I’m wondering if I should just wait longer.
I have a 997TT, SY996XAA and 987s in my garage so it’s not all good news and I’ll have to sell one to get a GT3, but more are feeling ‘within reach’ than they were months ago.
I know a lot of you are watching - would love to hear some thoughts. Of course if the one that speaks to me suddenly shows up above my budget I’m not going to nickel and dime, but I wouldn’t for one that doesn’t
I bought the car 7/01/2021 from a broker in Orlando who was selling it for the owner on consignment. My intention was to make it track ready and run it at PCA events in the East. It had 55,792 miles on it at that time. I drove it from Orlando to my home in Fort Myers, FL. (180 miles). I scheduled an appointment with AutoQuest MotorSports in Fort Myers to get the coolant lines pinned. During the time they had the car, I suffered a stroke and for the safety of others on track, I made the decision to retire from my track days.
I put the car on my lift, fixed the alternator than quit working when they re-installed the engine, and haven't driven it other than around the neighborhood occasionally.
I love the car, and think it would be a great track car. I just can't justify it for the street.
Google the VIN and read the back story on it in pretty good detail.
curious that the PTS turbo wasn’t listed on admin.Porsche.com back in the day and comes up as a $ only record on vin analytics. Last 5 is 85518. If that had a nephrite green interior I’d likely hand over my wallet for it and not look back!!
I have had more comments on the 996 Turbo than the GT3. To clarify, the 996tt is not for sale and probably won't be. I bought it 10 years ago with 36k miles on it. It now has 100k and a salvage title. I can drive it anywhere. I can park it anywhere without guilt. I love it and won't part with it. It does have nephrite green interior for the guy who asked. I would like to sell the GT3 and keep the turbo.

Although in comments he claimed that he was bidding because he "liked" the car...suggesting he was going to put to personal use. We shall see if it goes up for sale on their site soon.
cars already listed with a CALL NOW option of pricing
It’s very unfortunate. I delt with such tactics when I was in the market a 996 turbo. I lost a few cars to a certain shop in Miami who would then turn around and list the cars for 30 -to 50k more than purchased. Not a very pleasant fella to talk with either…but, boy I’d love to get a NA mezger if i had the extra garage space. For now window shopping will have to do as i follow the market.
