GT3 Lightweight Weight Reduction Thread

gtdrei: I am talking about the race system, which is a little louder.
macfly: Not a $16k system, even I am not crazy enough to spring for that.
The exhaust retails for a shade under $9k with the headers. The system you are looking at is the Kreis-Seig valvetronic system, which is a very high-zoot set of pipes that permit the driver to push a button and go to an open exhaust. They make these things for Ferraris and Lamborghinis. The pipes look too heavy for a typical GT3 street/track application, and the price is prohibitive.

Lee,
I am verry happy with my existing setup ... switch to bypass on track days, MaxFlow on other days. I seriously doubt they can get the muffler and cats inline, so there will be crross pipes and no weight savings is my guess. Any major hp gains will come from headers not cats ... but keep us posted it SOUNDS awesome!

If you are, let say you need 5 oz, how can you make that lighter with titanium replacement, when you still need 5oz?? Isn't that like which one is heavier, 1 lb bag of nails or 1 lb bag of cotton.
I believe he was joking.

Larry, even with all these wonderful deletions and replacements, these damn cars still carry 500 lbs more "pork" then your car. Porsche seems to have lost track of the concept that lighter is faster. I just read that the 997 RSR is 270 lbs heavier than the 996 RSR !?!? I'm just happy my car is within 50 lbs of my PCA minimum with 0 fuel. I was very supprised to find that I could run 6 laps after the low fuel warning came on. I figured I was going to have to get out and push my car over the finish. The second race was the opposite. I think maybe the fuel gauge is fishy.
