Ben's plenum

Ben,
I have your shifter and it works great but I wanted to mention to you another small improvement you can make. Where the screw goes there are washers. These washers are not adequate once installed and it still leaves a bit of play or "wiggle". Maybe you could add one more washer to tighten up the shifter so it has no play and it passes the "Wiggle test".
This explains what im talking about.
Your shifter is a great improvement. With this extra bit I believe it would be perfect!

All 996 e-gas (so the 3.6), 997 and 987 already and at least a 74mm (or 76, depends where you measure!) throttle body.
Only the 2 gen 996 have a 83mm TB. The first gen (360hp GT3) has a smaller one (I'll verify that tomorrow, we have a 1st gen GT3 engine out at work).
I just received an e-mail that may get you excited guys! But more on that later

Did you try to tighten the nut? It might be enough.
I'm working on something better than those red washer, but I want to keep it low cost :/

Update: so it’s been about a month now. To be fair I don’t drive the car much, but outside of the richer sound and smoother acceleration, I haven’t noticed any power gains. I have not tuned it so take my results for what they are.
On on a separate note, Bens shifter looks exactly like this Ebay listing: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F321485418848
I wonder how they compare?

The only difference is, that Ben spends time machining the shafts to high tolerance smooth surface, and adds roller bearings to the bushings.
Maks a whole of a difference.
I own both by the way. The eBay one and Ben’s.

You have to drive the car for at least a complete week to feel an improvement. For the DME to adapt.
The eBay listing is available anymore, but I can guess what shifter it was They are not exactly the same!
I do use them, but as a basis for mine! I redo them were it matters and once installed, even though eBay shifters are good enough, they don't compare with mine or any other good shifters

Y Connector
Ok now I know what you mean. So the stock Plenum has one hole. Those 2 hoses are joined by a y connector that plugs in the stock Plenum. With Bens, you disconnect the two hoses from the y connector, and they both fit on to Bens Plenum on their individual hole. The smaller one fits directly on, the larger one you need to use the piece of hose that Ben sends with the plenum to connect the two. I can take close up pics tonight. If you are doing this, PM me and I can give you my number if you need help with the install.

Ben, what's the temparature limit of the plastic used and do you have reference pics of the part installed and used in hot climate for some time? Will it keep it's form?

Yes, it's the same material used for the original intake plenum, but not glass filled. That's why it's thicker than the original one and has ribs, to make up for the G.F. reinforcement. It will whistand about the same temperature.
The plenum doesn't get very hot. Around 70°C in a boxster.
I used it on my car (986 2.7) for at least 15 000miles, and the new owner still has it since almost a year ago, and drives it everiday. All that in South Florida.
I don't have one on my new 986S yet... mostly because I don't have to time to install it.
I'm going to slow down the plenums for a while because I'm working on... new plenum! And with the winter it takes me forever to make them (especially paint them).
