Installed some black 987/997 2 way, heated sport seats in mine. My old seats were falling apart and these are a nice upgrade! The black works better than I thought they would and I feel like I don't have to brace myself around corners anymore! I also have a new replacement shift boot on order that will be black as well to help tie it in. I've already painted the wood on the doors black. Planning on replacing the parking brake with a black one in the future and painting the shift **** wood black. I also have a silver and black hood crest incoming as well. I thought that might be a nice touch since the one on the steering wheel is that color as well as the one on the shifter.
I wrote a write up on installing the seats if anyone is interesting. Link below. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...l#post16767475
And just for fun, the dog enjoyed helping from the sidelines!
Hi my name is Chris and I'm new to Porsches. I am 19 and just bought an Millennium edition off eBay. So far I love it, mine is not in the best condition but I got plans for it.

Hi Chris,
Looks great, what number ME do you have, how many miles and where abouts are you located in general?
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to take care of the wood trim to prevent cracking many of us are seeing? I have an ME in my sights, but long-term, I'm concerned about the condition of the interior. At the end of the day, I'd like to drive something that looks presentable, inside and out, and the rate in which the trim deteriorates is disappointing.
Nonetheless, would an oil application (ie mineral oil) - much like one would on a wood cutting board - help address the issue?

Chasing presentable interior, I have created a vacuum press system at home for forming and bonding a dark burl with bird eyes on to existing trim. I stripped the trim on the door storage lid down to plastic and have successfully restored to original using my vacuum press. I have applied a thick coat of clear art epoxy to make sure it stays good for long. The grab rails are tough to apply because of the contour, so is the steering wheel.

Mine was all cracked when I bought mine. Personally I don't think wood belongs in these cars so I've been slowly replacing it with black instead. I know, I know, not original, blah. I will probably leave the shift **** in wood though. I'm ok with that one. Harder to change the color on it anyway without replacing it entirely. But nonetheless, you can find replacement parts for all of the wood pieces in the car through Suncoast and probably others as well. Not cheap though.
