Hey Folks. I am new to the registry. I bought car number 519 earlier this year. This is my second Millennium. I actually bought the car as a salvage rebuildable. The drivers side quarter glass broke in a storm. Rain water soaked the immobilizer. A few scratches too- but mostly buffed out. I went to ECU doctor and they were able program a new Immobilizer with my original keys. So easy fix.

The car has been perfect this past summer, and currently has 56k on it. It was very well taken care of by its previous owner in Florida. The car is now in Carlisle Mass, and I expect it to be my daily driver for the coming year. Lets see how that goes!

Here is a picture from the auction when i purchased it from IaaI - I should say, I recognized it as a ME immediately and asked my shop to bid on it for me.

#526 listed on eBay with 100,800 miles for 21k buy-now. New LN IMS.

We acquired the Millennium as an insurance loss with some very minor left front fender and door scrape damage. Repaired by Celette Expert Damon of Series 900 in New Hampshire to factory exact accuracy. The bumpers were both painted, a new cover for front bumper from Porsche was installed, and a nice used headlight. The left fender was replaced, the hood was repainted, and left door was repaired and resprayed.

Correct. It also appears that 996.2 sideskirts were added and the wood on the doors was just altogether removed.

I guess I never followed up with you guys. We can find the paint code itself easy enough but when the shop runs the code nothing shows up on how to mix the paint. No info whatsoever. Here we are two months later and I'm still waiting. My car has an aerokit that I thought was factory when I bought the car but it turns out it was added sometime later on. So when they ordered the bumper the wrong one came in. Then what we thought was the right one was backordered through Stuttgart and it finally came in today only to be a 996.2 GT3 bumper. Did some digging and found the right part number today (hopefully) but it is also backordered 2 weeks from Stuttgart as well. Meanwhile, they had me collect my car after the first one was wrong. They kept my fuel door and sent it off to a paint specialist and it sounds like they've been able to match it. I know they were struggling to do so and said there was some weird stuff in the paint that made it difficult to match on top of having multiple colors in it. So I've been driving the car around on snow tires with a scuffed up bumper and a missing fuel door lol . The good news is I don't have to worry about my bumper getting any more chewed up than it already is.

Paint supply houses that carry the full line of Glasurit Paint can find the formula. Usually the first response from a supplier is to say that it is a Toyota color, but a Glasurit supplier should be able to find the code within his documentation. The formula requires several specific components in small proportional volume, and by now, 20 years after the paint was developed, all Glasurit suppliers may not have all of the necessary components.

A pint of the paint was over $250 but you also need the special reducer which was $300 for a gallon - only sold in gallons - for which you need a very small amount in proportion to the paint volume, Although you could also buy Glasurit clear coat and Glasurit hardener, a general purpose clear coat is more cost effctive as a set of the clear gallon plus smaller hardener was about $500. A body shop regularly using Glasurit products would be the most cost effective and likely successful applier oof these products.

As far as I know, Glasurit is the only source. PPG representatives tried their magic eyeball on it, but could not produce the expected qualities.

I'm debating between maintaining the originality of the car and wanting to take it out of the stone age. Doesn't help that I'm daily driving it now.
Maybe buy a bluetooth speaker?

Good information. Do you work in the trade? I wonder if it would be worthwhile contacting the Classic Factory Restoration Workshop facility in Atlanta? I wonder if they'd care because I certainly wouldn't be shipping my car to them in ATL!

Wow, that was a while ago haha. I wound up getting one of these and plugged it in place of the CD changer.

You'd think. This is a Porsche certified body shop and they couldn't get the formula. The code shows up in the system but brings nothing up. Just said the name of the color. They ended up sending the fuel door out to a specialist and they supposedly matched it. I dropped the car back off yesterday. The correct bumper finally came in. Now we are just waiting on a part that my car was apparently missing altogether. We'll see how it looks when I pick it up! It's going straight to a detail shop for new ppf and paint correction on the rest of the car.

The PORSCHE people are not trying hard enough to get this match. My local supplier is West Penn Laco in Millvale PA (just North of Pittsburgh) 412 821 3608, ask for George but the problem is that it is a hazardous item to ship - unless you are near-by this won't help much. If it is not Glasurit it won''t be right. I am not in the body shop business but I have been schooled well in this particular endeavor by the supplier and the painter.

Hey everyone in case anyone is looking to replace these body parts and in light of the paint fiasco, there is currently a Violet Chromaflair front bumper and rear decklid engine cover for sale on eBay. Condition looks very good.
