Still waiting on the transmission guy to let me know something. He wants to know what caused the failure before he does anything. No sense in putting in a new trans or rebuilding it if the car is just gonna eat it again. He's supposed to call me Monday. Technically today lol

Here's wishing you the best from Georgia! I've been closely watching your posts and I find your story heartbreaking. I basically (see picture) have the same car with the exception of the transmission... mine is manual. I always dreamed of owning a Porsche from the days when I was in high school seeing Tom Cruise in Risky Business made his famous line "Porsche, there is no substitute!". From a Porsche standpoint... unfortunately, we live in the south and that means American muscle cars rule the roost if you get my drift. hahaha Most have high respect for the 911, but some just don't get it until they drive one, then they change their mind. However, the high cost of maintenance and crazy expensive service makes you wonder if it's worth the investment, especially when you hear stories like yours or the dreaded IMS failures and such. I've owned mine for almost a year now and have nothing but praise for the car. It's been very reliable and hasn't caused a bit of trouble, but I wonder if I walking to close to the edge just waiting for something to crumble under my feet? I can't imagine paying $26,000+ for any car and then have it destroy a transmission three weeks down the road and then hear the dealership say it's going to cost $25,000 to repair a car you just bought for $26,000. Yikes! Was that the same dealership that sold you the car?

It was indeed. Leith Porsche in Cary NC. Thanks for the kind words. The 911 has always been a dream car for me. That's funny you mention muscle cars as my other ride is a 2016 Mustang GT. Haha. After having the Porsche for a few weeks it's all I want to drive though. Beautiful cab you got there yourself.
When I was looking it came down to the one I picked and an 03 cab with a stick, twice the miles on it, navy roof, five owners and an accident on the carfax. Who'd have thought the 50k mile car with 2 owners would be dead in less than a month.

Ouch... BIG OUCH! Personally, if I bought a used car from a factory dealership, and the car died in three weeks, I'd be all over them to make it right, especially if it was the dealership's brand. They have all the proper resources to check and repair these cars out before a sale, but unfortunately, the law is on their side in regards to *used* car sales and so it all boiled down to if they want to make it right in order to avoid any backlash or harm to their reputation. This is a very personal subject with me because we've seen it happen first hand. My nephew bought a used Dodge truck (for the record, I'm not a dodge truck fan) from a local Dodge dealership and just a few weeks down the road the engine blew. He had took it to them just a week before it happened and explained to the service manager that the truck's check engine and temp lights were coming on. They supposedly checked it out and said they didn't see anything wrong. The next week it gave up the ghost. And of course, the dealership refused to take responsibility and said, "sorry chap, you bought "As-Is"; therefore, it's yours to repair!"
After many attempts to get the dealership to do the right thing, my nephew's father went on FB and told the story. Not asking for a protest or black-mailing the dealership in anyway, but just to tell the story to all of his friends in case they were in the market. And before long, the story spread like wild fire and everyone was reading the story (including the dealership)... a day or two later, the owner called him apologizing for the mishandling of the situation and said he'd take care of it. They installed a new motor and the truck ran perfectly. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. Being nice doesn't always get results.

Is it normal for mechanics to just dick around? I swear to God this always happens. Dropped the car off at Porsche on a Friday. They said they'd have some answers Monday. Nobody calls me until I call them and they say they'll know something Tuesday. Tuesday comes and same thing. Then again on Wednesday.
I call a transmission shop and he says they'll have an estimate the same day I drop it off. Drop it off Friday, and he says he'll try and get it done by Saturday, but it might be Monday. Fine. I waited till Monday and he says he left just been researching the car. He's gonna have to get the serial number off the transmission. Might have an estimate tomorrow.
Is this **** the norm? Some mechanic kept pushing back stuff over and over with my buddy's bike and it turned out it was some kinda of "mechanics lein" scheme. Should I be worried?

i would sit tight and let things happen - last thing you want to do is **** off the shops with any sign of being impatient - i'm sure everything will work out and really great news that you were able to find a good used transmission for the price you paid.
if mechanic can't get to it by mid-late in the week then i would start asking questions

99% of the people who say "I'll call you right back" never call back. At least, if it's someone that you want to actually call back. If it's somebody you don't want to talk to (ex: insurance salesman), they will call back, incessantly.

Have you get the transmission checked by Mercedes specialist? 722.6 transmission often has issue with conductor plate. There are many cases that they lost drive and reverse when conductor plate breaks on these transmission.
Mine just leaked from connector seal. Porsche does not have the replacement and the way Porsche handle it is through reman trans. My mechanic managed to get the part from Mercedes dealer for $14 and it fixed my leak.

Krazy,
Every time they're about to dive into your car somebody else comes in and your car gets pushed to the back burner. It's quicker and easier for them to do one more oil change or brake job than tear into your engine. Don't take it personally, it's pretty typical actually (yes, it sucks).

I'll leave the guy alone for a few days and let him do his thing.
