Heh. Best Steve Irwin voice: "Crikey, here we have a beautiful specimen of the Carrera 2 in its native habitat. Notice how it rides on the back of its much larger cousin. Wow, what a beaut! You have to spot one in the wild to appreciate it...they seldom survive long in captivity."

Doesn't sound like a blown transmission, nor a failed half-shaft.

Reads more like something electrical with the transmission. Could be something like a bad solenoid.

Haha I definitely could hear that in Steve Irwin's voice. It's a C2 though

I certainly hope so. That would be much better than replacing a whole trans

Keepin' our fingers crossed. That would be excellent if it's just a solenoid.

Tip trannies are extremely robust... I have heard of very few failures. So, here's hoping it's something minor!

Thanks!

Everything I've read so far has definitely lead me to believe they are robust as well.

Well, the car went in on Friday and they told they'd have a report by Monday. Called them Mon and that turned into Tuesday. Same story on Tuesday. So hopefully third times the charm. I'm expecting some answers by this afternoon.

The dealership just told me that the torque converter went bad and took the transmission with it.

They said they will send an appeal or whatever to Porsche to see if they will pay for it but it would cost around 25000 dollars to fix my 26000 dollar Porsche. I can't even function I'm so mad.

They are checking on used parts as well. Anybody got a torque converter and tip transmission they are looking to sell?

One can be had used on eBay for under $5,000. Just take a look and be patient for the right specimen before you start getting grey hairs.

Ah, crap. Sorry to hear that. But, as stated above, get a used tranny.

Also check LA Dismantler...lots of places that specialize in used Porsche parts. Don't let the dealer sucker you for $25000...that's PDK prices, not tiptronics.
