Looking on auto atlanta, it looks like it is 99610622267 but it splits into 2 at one point in their pictures...mine doesn't do that.

I'm gonna have to pay for a nice vacation to Chicago for Ahsai if I ever have to rebuild my engine.

Just make sure the damn RMS is replaced. Heard it's horrible experience to get it replaced under warranty. LOL

Well if you subscribe to one of Jake's theories, the case itself can be oval'd to a certain degree meaning no matter how many times you replace it, you will still have a leak. Just like no matter if you replaced the IMS on the same token, your engine might still break down.

Wow, I am so impressed, I just read the entire thread now. (Fortuitous timing to get see how it all turned out at one reading)

Funny how if you saw a car drive past you wouldn't think anything, but if you knew the effort and talent that went in to get it "back from the dead" it would give you pause and respect

I hope you have many years of enjoyment with your unique Porsche!

Any time and I'm glad to help! Hey. that's not a bad idea. A long road trip is a great way to break in that 4.0 beast!

Bah. was going too well.

went for my 1st drive to break in the motor. stopped at the gas station to top up with gas. found some nice roads with hills and started doing uphill pulls in 2nd gear. 1st hill was great, car pulled really nice. shift to 3rd and it didn't feel right. it was tough to get in. shift back to 2 as I'm going down another hill and do another pull up the hill, these are 90kmhr road so I can't go all out in 3rd....car is pulling nice and as I go to shift to 3rd, it grinds, and won't go in at all. now I can't get it in any gear....ugh.

pull over, 4 ways on, call caa. tow truck gets there 30 min later and gets it up on the flatbed. I can see from there, the bottom shifter cable is loose. not out of its bracket but maybe half way in.

so I get it towed back to my place and put it up on the stands. install it better and slapped a zip tie around the bracket. while in the air, I got in and shifted the gears. seemed to work a lot better.

as soon as I got it on the ground though, the car won't go in gear.

wth?

You learn to always safety wire the gates that hold both shifter cables. I even do this on an IMS Retrofit job.

You may have the trans between two gears now. Pop the cables from both, zero the shifter, and zero the two levers, then connect it all back.
