Looks like you are really gaining on your engine rebuild. Hope you have it running by months end.

Looking good! I guess it's safe to erase the markers on the pistons now

the non tensioned timing chain rail guide for 1 2 3 goes in after the head drops on. I installed all the rails before and had to remove that one to install one of the small chain rail box bolts inside of the head.

Have you modded this engine so it can use 10 coil packs?

Just read the entire thread start to finish, what a great build. The time spent and the pictures taken at each step are very awesome. Looking forward to seeing it go back in the car!

Can you offer any suggestions on how to get a complete gasket kit? Or what is missing from yours?

Or what not to do?

Thanks

don't forget the dowels! lol

I got the complete engine gasket kit from pelican. there was some gaskets that I double ordered and I am glad I did because the OE gaskets for the oil and water pump were of much better quality. I got what I paid for though as I went with a cheaper kit.

it didn't have the gaskets for spark plug holes between the valve lifter carrier and head surface. the part notes may have mentioned this.

Dropped the cams, and tensioners in, and got the timing done on both banks. RMS was done with borrowed tool.

Went to install the cam covers and it looks like the porsche manual is recommending drei bond beige or locktite black. Dont have those. Can anyone tell me if I am ok to use the dreibond i used to mate the engine cases?

Long block is pretty much well done now, now I start adding the rest of the stuff. Its been 2 years since I disassembled this thing. Going to be a good test of my memory. I have about 300+pics of the engine tear down that I can reference also.

My phone died so didn't get too many pictures, I'll grab more tonight.

Soon!
