Saving $75 on an off brand AOS doesn't seem like much of a bargain.
The "off brands" are often the SAME EXACT PART in a different box/package, hence my question. I don't know whether you're comfortable paying double (or more) for merchandise because it's got a certain label on it, but generally speaking, I'm not. Now, if you've got even some anecdotal evidence as to why this
particular AOS should not or should be used I'd love to hear it... If not, NEXT !
I don't know either way. If I knew it was the exact same one manufactured to the exact same specs with the same QA, then I would certainly buy it. I hate the fact that Porsche charges a ridiculous premium.
Or if it were a part that had little recourse of failure, such as an ignition, then I would give it a try.
BTW, I got the FMS on making my own tool with a 1 1/4" PVC cap cut in half with a hole cut for the crankshaft bolt to fit in and used it to push the seal in.

^NICE!^ when you say "cut in half" do you mean the depth dimemsion? (so the cap is shallower than it was originally?)
