you are correct. I love my early built 996 and will probably never sell it. The 997 is a more refine modern car. Now I had a talk with FSI on Monday about building a 3.8 for my 996. I was told 31-32k and not till around March 23. So if I can get a 997 Carrera s for lets say $43 or even a bit less, I’ll have two cars. Nothing wrong with 3.4 engine. Cam deviations 1,1, fuel trims on point, compression and Leak down excellent, almost uses no oil at
oil, fixing to do my third oil change. Anyway I got a 3.8 Carrera s air box that’s going on the 996, and I already secured fab speed x pipes, I live my life by Jane Bryant queen “making the most of your money”. Anyway Nothing is set in stone as I am talking to other engine builders and one of them is in Germany, actually a race car engine builder thru my cuz who used to work for Porsche and it’s currently a consultant for Porsche racing teams.

I, for one, am very happy about the “explosion” with my ‘98 build 996. 🤓 I cannot imagine a sports car I would replace this with, except maybe another one just like it, but with a few more factory features and a few fewer miles.
