ebay is pretty safe for buyers. Sellers always get the shaft when it comes to disputes. I’m guessing he put in qty 4 thinking it was the number of wheels.

He’s been in contact already about shipping details so we’ll see what happens.

If he has 3 more at that price though, I’d be buying them too 😂

Agreed on zero feedback, but I think it was a set of 4, not 4 sets. Curb rash on them means a trip to the truer before mounting/re-mounting tires.

The “B” option (for 996 #408 9” width) is not pictured. I would assume these are the “A” (993 10” wide) version until I saw evidence otherwise.

Not that $1,250 isn’t a decent price for the 993 version NB Hollow Spokes, and they will fit 996 C2. They just aren’t the 996 #408 option unless 9” width (“B” version) is marked.

And of course if these are authentic “B” 996 #408’s this is the steal of the new year!!

Is refinishing hollow spikes any different than any other standard wheel?

10” rears are much more common; $2K is about the going price. So $1,250 is a steal even for those.

However, if these are in fact the 996 9” rear #408’s this is an absurd steal. Obviously in that case the seller didn’t know what he had.

Only authentic set of the 9” #408’s I’ve personally ever seen for sale was in Germany for $5K.

So these are either a steal, or an absurd steal. Can’t go wrong either way.

After I found the listing I messaged him and asked if his 99 has option code 408 but it seems Tom Loder purchased before he could reply. Curious to see which ones these are
He posted the vin or the car they came from but vin analytics didn't have any data with out paying for it

Good question. Curb rash should be exactly the same, and I don't know about truing them if warped, but I'd guess a whole lot trickier. Fine-looking wheels, though.

what have the actual 408s sold for? I can’t seem to find any for sale anywhere.

Last week I took delivery of a MY1999 (build date 3/98) with factory option code 408s in ocean blue over savannah beige from southern CA. It’s my grail 996 and I love it so much.

I remember seeing this one for sale. Talked to the seller. Great car. Super clean example. Congratulations!

That is indeed a grail 996. Someday the early-build numbers will become available from Porsche and values will reflect our obsession with these very unique 911’s

@GarrettSR5 sorry if I scooped it, I figured you had passed since you posted the link.

Wheels have shipped. They were from his 38k mile 7/98 build Ocean Blue metallic coupe with the 408 option. I did offer to buy the car, but he said he wasn’t selling at the moment.

Since he was parting with the wheels, I asked about lights and managed to acquire both the amber headlights and tail lights as well as he had already swapped them out.

I’ll be able to bring my silver 5/98 aero kit back to factory amber spec, plus some really nice wheels.

Christmas definitely came early this year for me.

No worries ! I had sent him a message hoping to confirm for the thread.
I hope he never sells the car as he's apparently given up most of its unique parts lol

Now you see why all the #408's are "missing". Dude you swooped down like a rabid vulture and stole everything that poor guy had but the build sticker. "Not that there's anything wrong with that"

Only a matter of time before he contacts you again

To beg
