A previous 996 owner local to me bought a 2012 gts so He sold the airbox, and some other stuff that was on his 04 996. Since I know him from cars and coffee I told him friend and family discount so I got a pretty good deal. $180, plus kN filter plus the bracket, plus a paper filter.

I’m in the same boat as you. I love my car. Honestly I’m old fashioned so I really don’t need any other features in the car. I would just want a little more power, but who doesn’t. This is a dilemma because my engine is in excellent shape. I’ll see what the 3.8 s airbox and fab speed x pipe does to it. I was told that the x pipe sound is awesome.

Turbolook 911’s have been some of the most collectible examples for fifty years running. The only issue I see is with the 997 and later generations where I personally cannot tell a C4S from a standard Carrera. 997+ narrow and wide bodies look virtually identical to my eye unless you directly compare width from the rear. And even then the look is just “bigger” not “Turbo”. Anyone know why??

IMO 996 C4S is the last of the “Turbolook” design. That fact alone guarantees its spot in the Classic 911 pantheon forever.

And look at M491 values now: they’ve actually exceeded the Turbos they mimic! Amazing

Regardless of the “explosion”, I said this when they were $15-18k cars all day long... including the initial purchase price I’ve probably got around $50k in my car. Worth it? It is to me... that’s all that matters

We forget somebody already put almost $100K (or much, much more) originally into every single 911 ever built. These cars aren’t vaulting by unusual, temporary market phenomena into some unknown financial realm where they don’t belong.

This car isn’t a Nissan, it’s a Porsche 911.

A $75K 911 SC is no more unusual than a $75K 911 964 is no more unusual than a $75K 911 996.

A 996 Carrera sells for $45K, or a 996 Turbo for $100K, and folks think the sky is falling?? These cars are going a whole lot higher than this before they even get back to original sticker price!

Classic 911’s always go back to sticker. And the desirable ones (Skittles colors and/or performance variants) always go much, much higher (especially performance variants IN Skittles colors!). Always. For three quarters of a century and running.

Simple math

So does anyone here actually talk about "craigslist finds"???

https://bellingham.craigslist.org/ct...413915531.html

I'm not sure what is going on but there has been a rash of craigslist postings in the Western states. Someone is posting 911s. If you call, sometimes the number works, sometimes not. Sometimes google message, sometimes something else. If you text the number sometimes someone will get back to you, tell you that it is legit and that you can come take a look but when you ask for the address or a personal call, the reply is that "someone is looking at it now to buy it"

Anyway, I don't understand scams because I don't understand how anyone can try to steal from someone else but I've noticed 4 such adds in the last couple of weeks with the exact same results. Take care.
