Hey Mike! I actually live full-time in mid-western Connecticut, but originally from Staten Island and visit on the weekends some times for family & friends. I'm still trying to find one myself for when I acquire my first 911 for when I'm staying on the island. I actually recommend taking the additional drive up here to either Butzigear or if thats too far, Speed Sport Tunning. Both HIGHLY RATED Porsche shops in CT, but I'm assuming it'll be more beneficial to find something in NYC/NJ.

Don't sweat the seeming missed opportunity. It just means the car you're meant to have is still waiting out there.

This thing looks like it has/had a mold problem on the interior. Could be a decent buy if there are not any rust issues but it would need to be thoroughly inspected for both rust and a leakdown test on the motor.

That is a really expensive roller...won't be worth as much with an engine swap unless you try to sell on BaT...the prices people are paying for these are just stupid.

Check this out...a 40AE car with 32K on the clock, no IMS update and needs tires sold for $60K on BaT:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...nniversary-54/

With IMS/RMS/Clutch, new tires and auction fees, the buyer is going to have almost $69K in this thing.

Those are look alike but they are not hollow. I have them in my car. They have 993 parts numbers. Factory original code is 408. Fronts are 7.5” , rear are 9. I had originally verified this with Porsche. There is a huge scam going on with these. The ones that everyone wants are the fronts 7.5 , apparently this has been going on for a while. Bdmaia owns a 996 and seems to be super knowledgeable about our cars. Anyway that blue early 99 coupe that sold on bat yesterday had factory 408s. Another thing on these wheels seems to be that only the 99s are the few cars that could have these wheels. They where original produced for the 993s and once they where gone, no más. I have been offered twice $2500 and $3000 for mine with a a cheap set of Italian knock off as a trade. Both 993 owners.

Yeah only whole cars. Usually end up junkyards for disassembly

There has to be a huge catch here, right? Must be a crumpled mess of rusted sheetmetal? Even with the salvage title it can't be a legit decent car at that price?
