Atlanta 2003 cabriolet 57k miles for $20k
I drove this one. It had issues. ticking on left side of motor and top would not work. He later texted me that he fixed the top. It's got 930 turbo rear wheels and it had a big indention in the back seat. also the front end was way out of alignment. I saw it recently sell on ebay for $17K

Tip, aero, with IMS done. Proper color.

I think I recall this car for sale about a year ago. Has nice options except missing 030 and 220 like mine, and 6 sp.

IMSB done 2300 miles ago? Unless there is good hard evidence of the condition of the old bearing and motor that should give people pause.

Could be completely innocent, but enough people have been burned with crap motor that just had their bearing changed...

Not a good sign if there's a biohazard notation...

Thoughts on these? I am totally new to all this so I value y'all's opinion and experience greatly. 16k seems pretty cheap for the first one, but I would probably put in a new clutch and do the IMS while I am there just because I want this to be my DD for years to come. Thanks so much!

True. Missed that. The way it's worded though it could be referring to leaking fluids though. Dunno.

The first one has seen some hard use. Kudos to the dealer for showing honest pics of it though. Things that jump out at me:

- Something going on where the frunk meets the bumper. Duct tape residue? Got backed into/over by a taller vehicle?

- That is some serious wear around the light switch. Around the ignition I could understand, but the light switch?

- That steering wheel is in rough shape.

I think the price is about right for it in it's current condition. That steering wheel would drive me nuts so I'd look at picking up a used one in better shape to swap in. The rest I think is pretty minor.

The second doesn't look bad either, but it is lighter on detailed pictures so it's harder to judge.

Since you are new to the 996 game, make sure you get a good PPI from a Porsche shop (not a dealer) that is familiar with the 996.

Gnat covered them well. As a DD, you're not so much concerned about total miles(cuz you're gonna add quick), as you are about regular scheduled and unscheduled mx done. The gray would be my first choice.

For the silver, you gotta get this IMSB pre-qual inspection done before you write the check. Your plan to do the clutch and IMSB all hinge on whether either of the cars will pass the pre-qual for approved mech install of the LN solution, etc. Read up on it, and ask both sellers if you can do the pre-qual or not. I had a seller refuse to let it be done.

Also, since you want a cab and I presume you are Houston area, you MUST insure the top seals well and it goes up and down flawlessly. I don't mean that it goes up and down ok, or with force, or clunky, I mean it goes up and down like factory.

May be a good plan to start a different new thread of your own looking for what you want. Might get some interesting replies. Look everywhere, and don't settle for what you don't want. Patience is rewarded. Prices will be anywhere from $15-25k.

Sub-14k '99 here:

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...706655419.html

Couple of bumps recorded on the Carfax but no salvage title. And on the plus side it has a PCA sticker in the rear window and some history from a well-regarded specialist.

If it's a good condition running M96, why was it replaced by a "Chevy"?
