I'm sure I'm in the minority but the C4 is a great track car.

After a bit closer look at the speed yellow pics in Springfield I can see that possibly this is an aftermarket aero type kit. NTTAWWT, but it's possibly not factory. The right rear lower spat has paint peeling off. Guessing the little dots on the rear bumper are aftermarket as well. Add it up with removing the headlight covers, and I guess that's what they mean. Still not a deal breaker is if someone wants to spend a little time and money on the bodywork.

The spats are a hard foam. The paint is flaking off our's too. My guess is that they were repainted/replaced. Factory paint sticks well, but bodyshop paint not so much from what I've seen.

After looking again, I'd bet money it's real.

Second look reminded me that the backup sensors would also need to go....

Hmmm... Race car.... It's the right driveline and it's the right price....who cares what color it is if it's stored in WV right? Hmm....

It looks real to me. We would just need a pic of the option sticker to determine if it was added on or from the factory.

HOWEVER, I think it should be a crime to put an aero on a MK1 tip car.

Another C2 being marketed as a C4. Weird.

But if it checks out, what a great deal.

Most of them don't have traction control so you actually have to drive and respect it. The ABS is the only way it tries to help you, the rest is all you. And when you get it right, it is very rewarding. It truly is a drivers car with all the feel of a 993 but the Hp of a 996.

People talk about 986.2's extra HP but it weighs 200lbs more. In SPEC996, they only doc you 180lbs for having a 996.2. So basically you end up with a heavier car that isn't any faster.

'98 was the last year that the engineers still controlled the build process. That's why Porsche was loosing their rear. When the accountants took over, every year things got a little cheaper. Metal parts became plastic. But at least they got them profitable again.

So the '99 is the sweet spot of all Porsches. It took me awhile to get this. After putting my down payment on an FSI engine, I kept bugging Jake about whether or not I was putting it in the right car. I asked about 996.2s, 40th anniversaries, 996TTs, 997S. And every time he told me early model '99 was the best. Now that I've had it awhile, I get it. So now I own two.

One more story, I reached out to a guy that went from a '99 dedicated track car to a 996.2 X51 for the larger engine and HP. He built it out the same way and a year later he was still running a second slower than the '99.

Very intersting. Makes me much happier I purchased a 99 996 built in 98. Im adding a TBD and some other drivers mods. I think it will be a very fun package.

I pulled the carfax on it. He either bought it to filp it, or decided he didn't want the car. I wish he'd answer his phone or respond to emails though, because I'm trying to buy the car.

BTW if anyone's seen the ad for the gold 911 in Modesto, the guy is a liar. It's listed as a clean title 2001 with 99,000 miles. Carfax says it's a salvage title 2000, with 200,000 miles. The car is also tore up. A/C doesn't work, stereo needs pin to unlock, drivers side door panel needs replaced, driver's side window regulator out, back right tire completely bald, rear brakes howl while driving, rims are demolished.......... you get the point.

Nice looking Seal Gray (?) Aero C4 not far from me, 2001, 30k miles, $25k. I spy litrnonics, difficult to see what else it has - possibly Savannah interior? Or could just be the lighting.
