Ahh, now I see. That makes a difference.

Yeah, I love winding down the window and listening to my exhaust note. The car is always getting complimented by people that drive behind us.

My today story:

Today I headed to the Denny's about 30 minutes south of my place about 7:00am - met up with around 10 other PCA people and we had a nice breakfast -
We traveled a few miles to the track but not to drive - we had our semi-annual Adopt a Hwy - little clean up...and we were the clean up crew!

We cleaned up the hwy for about 4 hours and then headed to a Mexican joint for beers and burritos - made for a nice day

Interesting items list:
3 dozen 24 towing violation notices spread all over the place (police issue)
1.5 dozen police issue CAUTION stickers
$0.23 cash !
bag of fish heads (not kidding)
black thong and **** dvd - someone took that home I think cuz I never saw it
2 cell phones
starbucks gift card - unknown value - will be checked
a crow - ewe
pallet
2 tires
peterbuilt semi truck diesel tank cap
10 mm craftsman socket 1/4" drive

we stacked about 45 bags of trash and debris for the state trucks to pick up - I would say...there are more people smoking than you could imagine and a heck of a lot of them just toss them out the window - pretty scary - also a LOT of alcoholic beverage containers got picked up

Hope you had fun today, I did!!!

I'm new to 996s but not new to Porsches. Anyway I told my lovely wife to drive the new-to-us 996 to church. We squeezed the little'ens in the back and off we went. Since my wife was driving I was dropped off with the kids to get them checked in. My wife parked the car.

We met up at the coffee station to head into church. My wife had a smile on her face. I looked at her and said 'what?" She said she parked the car in a safe place. While parking she could hear another couple talking. The man was dragging his wife from their BMW to look at a new Mercedes SUV. "See honey this is a new one", he told her. The other lady shrugged her shoulders and pointed at my wife as she got out of our 996, and said "I'd rather have what she's driving."

We laughed all the way to our seats.

gave my wrench a ride home from the shop to his house tonight - I love it when he says "this thing drives awesome"

love my car - there is something special about a Porsche and you should smile everyday you have one - and if you have waited 10-20-30 or more years to get one - GET ONE !!!

goodness gracious!

Gave up on the Seattle summer today and put the hardtop on for the winter.

I'm always surprised at how much more room there is and how much quieter the cabin is with the hardtop. It becomes a different car. I enjoy the HT off season....and just as much enjoy taking it off in the Spring.

I dropped my son off at his pee-wee (11 & 12 year olds) hockey practice last night. He is new to the team this year so I don't know all the kids yet very well. When I walked into the locker room, every single one of his teammates started yelling 'Hey Mr. S' and proceeded to give me a big group hug and almost knock me over. It was actually somewhat uncomfortable.

Turns out, someone saw me drop my son off in the 996 and they all want to go for a ride!

They play a tournamet in Detroit this weekend and I promised the player with the best +/- for the weekend a ride. That about started a riot and alot of trash talk in the locker room. I'm sure I'll end up taking each one for a ride at some point.

I love seeing all these kids that get dropped off in their BMW/Mercedes/Lexus etc. get all goo-goo over my $15K '99 996! They have good taste!

I get a good chuckle out of how what we drive creates a perception for people. My Mother has been back and forth between her nursing home and the hospital. She was taken to the ER today and I stopped to check on her, amazing how many people called me sir and held open doors because they saw me get out of a "Porsche" and I guess assumed that my security badge from work was a hospital badge and I was a Doctor.

Happens at the nursing home too except people actually say to each other "her doctor is here again". They never say that when I show up in other than a Porsche and am wearing blue jeans - then I go pretty much unnoticed.

my region PCA is awesome - I have met MANY great people and we are very active - I hit 1 to 4 events / month or so and have gained a lot of experience as a result - Our region offers Drivers Skills days, AutoX and DE's I attended every one this year I think.....we also have tours and social events, hyw clean up, food drives, and monthly meetings (I am on the board, so I go to them all too)

as a result of the PCA I have a much larger base of porsche friends and i consider some of them family. we converse through face book, emails and get togethers - my wife is completely un-interested, and that's fine, my kids do some volunteering and get to attend the workers parties with free food and fun.

for ME - I get a lot out of it, but I also know people who get nothing out of it....you can try is and if it's not your thing....just dont renew- its cheap to try
