I took a friend's daughter out one time and showed her what a rollercoaster ride on a back road was like and she was on a high when the drive ended... it's a lot of fun to see the high they get from a ride in the car.

Burning Brakes
Yesterday I stop at a local gas station to fill up. While I'm at the counter a man in his late 40's pokes his head through the door and yells who's Porsche is that!!! sounding all pissed off like I just killed his cat. I turn around and tell him that would be me and all of a sudden he just starts smiling and says dude that's my dream car do you mind giving me a ride? I think to myself what the heck why not if he pulls a gun at me and wants to steal my car ill drive the car into a tree with his side. I took him around the block and dropped him off with the biggest smile on his face

I was getting ready to watch a movie tonight and had to
Go out to garage to find the
stuff to clean TV screen
I noticed my 996 windshield
Needed cleaning and ended up doing them all
Then the the carpet, the wheels and I had to check
spare and I just got lost...
I was in a Porsche Haze
when I returned to watch the movie it was almost over

The onramps to the freeways here in LA are metered, meaning that they have a light at the entrance to the freeway that operates during high traffic periods to "meter" the number of cars entering the freeway. This is supposed to help prevent traffic jams from a lot of cars all merging onto the freeway at once.
The onramp near my work is metered and has a good 1/4 mile straight before the light. One day there isn't anyone between me and the light, so I time it as I'm going up the onramp and hit the light just as it turns green. At about 70mph.
Just as I merge onto the freeway, a CHP officer hits his lights and pulls me over. The conversation goes like this;
C: Can I see your drivers license, registration, and proof of insurance?
Me: Yes, officer. Here you go...
C: Do you know why I stopped you?
Me: No sir.....speeding maybe?
C: No, you ran the light at the freeway entrance.
Me: Could you repeat that again? What happened?
C: You failed to stop at the metering light at the freeway entrance.
Me: It was green.
C: No, you failed to stop at the light.
Me: I understand what you're saying, but it was green.
C: No, you don't understand, you failed to stop at the light.
Me. Ok, let's make sure that we're communicating. Can you explain step by step what I did wrong?
C: As you came up the on-ramp, you failed to stop at the light before entering the freeway.
Me: Is that it?
C: Yes.
Me: Ok, here is how I saw it - I drove up the onramp and could see the light and timed it so it was green when I drove though.
C: That is still illegal.
Me: How is that illegal? I never stop at a green light when I'm driving down the street. If its green, you just drive through!
C: No, you have to stop.... (he's thinking now...), well, WHAT if the light had turned red? There is no way that you could have stopped in time. You need to slow to a safe speed so you could stop IF the light changed.
Me: That's not a law! And you might be surprised, this car can stop pretty damn fast.
C: No, you would have ran the red light.
Me: Ok, let's say that I would have ran the red light - THEN you could give me a ticket. But I didn't. I hit the light when it was green. You can't give me a ticket for something that MIGHT have happened.
C: Give me a minute...(walks back to his car for a few minutes)
C: Ok, you are free to go....

But be glad he was reasonable because with the wrong cop you would have been tazed!

For instance, my wife and I were coming back from the Sonoma Film Festival gala and we were in her CL55 and it was about 11:00pm on a Saturday. The turn from Sonoma City Square is a right turn only, but I took a left in order to avoid a series of turns that would be required otherwise. It was getting late and I didn't want to spend any more time driving than necessary.
Then, when take the next right, I see a car in my rear-view and he's somewhat aggro behind me. So, I speed up a tiny bit to put some space between us, and in doing so, might've pushed up past the 35 mph limit.
Sure enough... Sonoma cop. He pull me over, and I figure he's got three things on me, potentially: 1) illegal left, 2) speeding, 3) potential DUI. I drank a number of glasses of wine, but switched to water towards the end of the evening so it's arguable at present 0.08% limits.
He asked me the standard question: "Do you know why I pulled you over?" I said, "I made an illegal left coming out of the square, and I was kind of going fast on this road. Basically, it's late and we have a long drive ahead of us to SF, so I wanted to get there sooner. If I took a right, I'd get confused about getting back on this street." I did not mention I was going fast because he was tail-gating my ***. Left that part out.
He ran a license check, and sure enough, let me off with a warning. The tuxedo and my wife's gown might've helped, and believe me, when the lights go on, the massive adrenaline dump makes me stone cold sober in case there was any remnants of booze in my system.
Another time, speeding in Pt Reyes at about 9pm and a CHP pulled me over for going 45 in a 25. He asked the same question ("Why did I pull you over?") and I said, "I know, it's late and I wanted to get home. I know there's a school zone in the day over there and there are a lot of walkers. I should know better." Again, another warning from an agency that doesn't necessarily give a lot of those.
So, just being honest and not a dick, I think, is the best approach. Sure, there are some bad apples out there, but they're basically just trying to do their job and keep things safe. Of course, getting a series of three warnings in a row definitely helped me make up my mind towards giving to the 11-99 Foundation (benefits CHP survivor families). Ironically, the only ticket that I received in the last 5 years from a CHP was when I had the 11-99 license plate on my Turbo, but that's a different story, and I still think that the 11-99 Foundation is a very worthy one.

Drifting
After lunch last week my wife;who was driving at the time and in a rush to get back to work, was pulled over by the local LEO.
Police officer walked up and just told her that she exceeded the speed limit (61 in a 45) and did not make a full stop at a stop sign.
She just said "I am sorry" and after checking her driving record he let her go with a written warning.
This is the 4th time she has gotten pulled over in the past 20 years and she never had to pay a fine.
If it was me I would have been sitting in the back of the squad car

Well, no one can explain nor fix my car's incessant gong alert when the car exceeds 71 mph.
Before anyone tells me it is the aural speed limiter, it is not. The chime is the same one you get when the seat belt is not engaged at low speed, except it only happens when you exceed 71 mph.
How's that for a top end to a GT3?
At least I won't be speeding on the highways.

Yesterday, I agreed to be a female friend's "escort" for her brother's wedding. It was rainy and nasty so I drove my little Mazda hatchback to the reception but nearly everyone that introduced themselves to me said "so you're the Porsche guy, right?" I ended up having a great time listening to people talk about their brother's/uncle's/neighbor's Porsche.

RE the onramp light -
I also have one near me that if there are no cars is always RED - and if I drive at it at ~50 it will trip as my tires hit the first detector in the pavement and flip to green as my tires cross the line - its a little unnerving but so far it has never failed to turn green before I pass it -I also expect someday to be pulled for this....but I can clearly see it is green as I pass it
those things are a fricken joke anyhow - "Seemingly intelligent people" at work with your tax dollars

Three Wheelin'
Great way to save gas by (theoretically) making everyone come to a stop, then accelerate to highway speeds -- even if there's no one in line and no reason to come to a stop.
