Yesterday I was at the Deere supply store to pick up some repair parts for my lawn tractor. As I am exiting there are two boys, maybe 12 or 13 years old, and just as I walk through the door one of them says "hey mister - that's your Porsche over there isn't it". I stopped dead and said, well, yes it is, how did you know? The boy says, "you just look like that would be your car". As I open the frunk to put the parts in they hustle over asking how big of a V-8 is in there and they look in the frunk and if you could have seen their faces - it was sort of a WTF look as they look at each other, look at me, and start to look all around the car.

I took the time to show them the engine compartment and let them chat me up about a 2 million dollar car that goes 317 MPH and their friends sport bike that went 205 MPH. As I am leaving it hits me that mine was the only car in the lot, the rest were pick up trucks, and I was the only guy in the store not wearing kahki work clothes or a farm related baseball cap. Was a pretty easy guess to match the car to the driver after all.

I noticed they were standing in the parking lot watching me pull on to the main road, so I let the PSE sing a bit for them.

I got a good chuckle out of it, especially that look on their faces when they saw an empty "engine compartment" where they expected see a "big V-8".

Frenando - I have done that exact same thing swapping pads - seems every once in a while I "forget" and when I turn the car around that damn suburban is right there to say - HEY IDIOT...YOU'VE GOT NO BRAKES!!

funny on the red bull - my car (996) had a wierd sound one day on track that caused me to shut it down - after much searching I found nothing - then every time at the track I would hear it again, esp when transitioning from hard left to hard right???

about 9 months of trying to figure it out and one day vacuuming I pulled out a whole set of keys on a key ring from somewhere under the seat - THAT drove me nuts trying to figure out what it was - like you...not my keys

Just think if you would have posted the "symptom" of the jingling sound under your seat you might have received a diagnosis of an engine going bad!

Always glad when it's a simple solution - still a mystery though!

he didn't post because he knew everyone would just assume it was one of his spare parts for the GT3 RS floating around the back

Was planning on doing an oil change today had oil and filter bought. Threw a check engine light ABS light and traction control light. was running rich as frack, missing etc. got codes P0102 for MAF (MAS of Volume air flow low), 2096 for O2 (said ring failure diagnose, scared the crap out of me) P0300 (multiple misfires), P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire), P0305 (Cylinder 5 Misfire)

I was not impressed to say the least ha ha. I knew my maf was just about done from the K&N intake i put in, So got a new MAF, spark plugs, coil packs, and O2 sensors.

I only really needed to clean my MAF but figured might as well do some basic maintenance and do everything anyways. Spark plugs were't terrible but could use replacing. The coil packs all work, but the plastic casing on them was all cracked, thought it was from the previous guy doing plugs over torquing the coil packs, but research this seems quite common, so I replaced them before corrosion became a real problem. O2 sensors tested fine, but I don't have any records for them being done so figured I would do them too.

While I was down there I found that I had a small oil leak from what seemed to be a fitting on the passenger side of the motor, threw some dye into the oil to confirm what it was. Also found the axle seal leaks at the front diff, leak wasnt that bad yet, so steamed off, fluid level was fine. I ordered some axle seals, and will do them when I change over to my winter tires and confirm my oil leak.

Default Nut bomb

On my 996ttx50 Cabrio, I was driving with the top down and all of a sudden, I got hit with a spray of some random stuff. No houses, bridges or lights nearby and it was mildly surprising.

Lots of fragments and when I closely loosely at the debris, there were things that looked like vegetal matter. Don't you know it -- I got **** on by an overhead bird. I think that the Chinese folks consider that good luck!
