My recent story was me being the kid. I was stopped at a light (Left Hand turn to get on Interstate On-Ramp). Next to me was a yellow S2000 with a license plate "S2K GUY". So I just knew this guy loved his car.

Light turned green and then BOOM he takes off, well...I had to represent so now that he has quite a lead on me (he had inside line and took off) I have to show him what 450+hp will do...so I zoom buy him and that was that. To my surprise - it took me longer to catch him than I thought - and I had to use a bit of emergency lane to give him plenty of room.

Kudo's to that S2000 - it was quick...but I couldn't go down like that.

Marc, Jack Daniels?.... Ive walked out on them before..... they think their sh^t don't stink over there.

Last week Ive been driving the Mk1 in the country roads during the AM since its been really nice out.... Enjoying the twisty roads... I pass a cop, 50 yards later he bangs a huey and puts on his lights. For some reason I have a red sticker that usually flags a failed inspection but actually passed inspection, I happened to get a red one... fun. So, my guess is ts gotta be the no front plates....

He comes running at my window, asks for docs, looks at the sticker, looks at the front bumper.... "where's the plates", I say, "Its in the trunk". Grabs my papers and goes back to his car.

10min passes, comes back and starts to apologies... " I know a lot of these cars doesn't come with front brackets, but I put you down with a warning in the computer". Hands me my docs... and I drive off. Im good for another year for my next hassle.

Then she picks up an incoming call and spends 5 minutes booking an appointment while I stand there. After that she rings parts again… 9 rings and voicemail, She tries again.
and Parts picks up, she says she has a customer for parts he tells her he is busy and will call her back “Click” I am just floored at this point.

Me: Where is the parts counter?
Her: It’s at a different building
Me: Your old Location?
Her: No near here.
Me: Can I just go there?
Her: No, customers are not allowed there
Me: So how do I get parts?
Her: They bring them here
Me: Are you kidding? clearly that’s not working when they don’t talk to you and how long does that take? I just need a bulb!
Her: Well that’s how they do it now.
Me: And they think this is a good business model? Having your parts at an “undisclosed location”

At that point the phones rings and she ignores me .. I just gave up and left.

I guess dealers don’t even want parts business anymore, I have bought 2 cars from these jerks.
In all fairness I wanted to update this thread.. The folks at JD did get back to me and they were very apologetic, They have told me that in the future there will be a parts person available to to work with customers and they are making the changes to how parts will be handled at their Porsche location. they are delivering the parts I needed to me at my office. They made no excuses and just said they blew it, A good move.

what a joke.... feast or famine.

That bulb just cost them 100x more..... in the end, the customer will pay for it. Glad you got your bulbs though... and kudos for you that you complained.

Yesterday our PCA chapter had it's annual planning meeting for the 2012 calendar year... I was lucky enough to be invited, it was pretty fun to watch the different events within the club muscle over dates for events. Some had hard dates (contractual) like the DE and AutoX groups...(I represented the DE group) and the rest had to work around our dates....

overall I am finding my Porsche experience to be a LOT more than just owning a Porsche......If you are not hooked up with your local PCA, I would really encourage you to get plugged in, there is a LOT going on!!

Tech Sessions (how to's with hands on!)
Tours (long and short, 1-3 days!)
Social Events (banquets and gatherings)
Concourse (show and shine)
Track (safety, competition, fun)
Special Events (wine and chocolate tasting, art, golf)
Community Events (like road clean up and food drives)

I have also found that I can contribute some things to the group and in return I receive a pretty good feeling - and make/made some good friends along the way....

anyhow, get plugged in, they would love to have you and I bet you would be glad you did !!!

Since it's Christmas, many of us are getting goodies for our cars and many of our wives (mine included) are constantly giving us crap about our mods, I had to post this. The spoiler thread reminded me that my wife thinks wings look silly on street cars and even thinks the Turbo spoiler with the wing retracted looks silly. Women!

Sunday my wife and I drove seperately to an open house since I had been out shopping and was running late. On the way home she is following me down the freeway. I hit 75 and the wing goes up. 5 seconds later my phone rings.

Wife:" What did you do to that car now?"
Me: "What are you talking about?"
Wife: "That automatic wing thingy that just went up."

LMAO! She never realized it went up. She's threatening not to ride in the car anymore.

Default Happened Last Week (Long)

Last Thursday night some of us from work decided to hit BWWs for wings and adult refreshments. Saying i would go but could not stay. Well as luck would have it I started chatting it up with a hottie and it was going well so I stayed. Ended up working out for the best. Anyhow, slept through my alarm, woke up late for my frontguard install. Still having time to get there if I pick up the pace a bit, I throw on some clothes, and bolt out the door for my 1 hr drive to Annapolis.

I have a few spots on my route that are a great place to really stretch the legs on the P-Car. I was really frustrated with all of the Sunday type drivers that were on the road. I finally got an opportunity to wind her up and i did. Rolling thru the secluded twisty somewhat hilly section I approach what "Could be" a very secluded spot for a LEO to sit and nail someone. Mind you I have not seen a LEO sit there in 7 years so, one would assume... I told myself to throttle back just in case. Just as I crest the last hill before my exit, I see the red and blues are already lit! I take a quick glance and see 119 indicated :-o (***** in Throat) feeling sets in and I say, "Looks like I'm going to jail today... Fack"!

I pull over and shut her down and prepare the necessary documentation for presentation. The officer ask for everything including my insurance which is not the usual protocol. Of course he asked what my hurry was so I explained i was headed to the dealership to have my front plate installed professionally and have a clear bra installed on the car. He asked is your record clean? Yes Sir it is! I'll be right back. after 40 minutes he comes back and asked how I was able to get the MSP "Sheild" for my window? I explained I moved into my long time friends house when I was seperated and at which time he got accepted to attend the academy and I took care of his house, german shepard, grass and whatever else his wife and family needed help with. The LEO then said that is most def shield worthy in my book.

back to business... Mr. 911, I have issued you a warning based on your honesty and good moral character and not making me chase you today, Do NOT let me see you at that speed thru here ever again! You got that? YES SIR I DO!

BTW: Mr 911 that is one sweet looking ride you got there. Of course i told him thank You and to have a Happy New Year

Can't ask for a better way to start off the new year than that...

I did have contacts pulled up in case I got hauled off. I'm so glad I didn't!!!

Our New Year's day was an unusually sunny, mild day for the Seattle area....a perfect day to go flying to start a new year. Not many people out yet. I'm cruising along in the right lane, about 6mph over, when a black 370Z comes screaming up in the left lane next to the 996. Heavily tinted windows; looked like 20" expensive rims.

He guns his car several times wanting a foot race. I'm not interested. Even if I spank him/her/it...there's really no upside for me. I can go flying--he can't. Passenger window rolls down; lone asian driver displays a hand gesture, then blasts into the HOV lane to pass a couple of slower cars that were blocking the two regular lanes.

A few car lengths in front of the slower cars, blue smoke starts to come up from the driver's side of the 370Z. Blue smoke gets thicker. Bits of something dark start to get scattered behind the car. Then the tread fully separates from the sidewalls on the driver's rear tire and rolls off the rim. I don't see sparks, but I assume that the pavement is making the narrow walls of the wheel thinner by the second.

370Z darts across three lanes, causing cars to dodge it....to end up at the side of the road....on New Year's day. As I continued on to the airport, I mused about the chance that he had a viable spare. Hm-m-m-m-m.

His day was not as much fun as the flight.

Oh man...

So I had to pick up my boys today from school. While I was in the car line, a kid rides his scooter up to my window and goes "Hi <myname>! I'm <kidsname>." I had no idea who this kid was. He said "I told my mom that there was someone driving a Porsche over there! She said <so and so's> parents have a Porsche. She said to tell you hi."

I'm sure I interpreted that totally the wrong way but it was still pretty funny I don't have any idea who his parents are but this thread was the first thing I thought of. I don't think that would have happened in my Tacoma

My boys are now well known at their school as the kids who's parents have a Porsche. There seems to be this perception that I spent $100k on my car. I guess the growling PSE while in the car line helps.

Drove by 986S to a local auto hobby shop today to change my oil on the lifts there (I love $3/hr lifts!) and realized I had grabbed one case of 0W40 and one case of 5W30, but not until I'd completely drained all the old oil Luckily my wife was kind enough to bring me the right case, though she seemed a bit pissed about it, heh. At least it was a really nice day (67 & sunny) so I had the top down.

Traffic sucked, unfortunately. Then when I finally pass the worst of the congestion, !@#^@# 25mph school zone. I generally add 10mph to the speed limit, but I stayed below 30, right to the 50MPH zone that starts at the end of the school zone, and just punched it. Ahhhh, so cathartic! About 1.5 miles later, I'm in a left turn lane waiting for the light, and a full-size pickup pulls up beside me. Guy says out the window "That looked fun!" I smiled and replied "It sure is, it's a lot of fun!" He continues "I saw you gun it back there and tried to follow, but I wasn't even close to catching up!" At that point, the light turned and I wished him well... and punched it again, this time around the 90 degree corner
