to keep this on topic...I dont listen to that in my CAR - makes the engine sounds to hard to diagnose rough running

So today had my oil changed by my local Indy and yearly check up. I have known John Valhalla in Lafayette for a over the years and great honest tech out there. He specializes in older "air cooled" but does amazing job with other years as well. Plus he is very reasonable.

My car has not had the upgraded RMS/IMS done except some work done back in 2000 (per service history) on a leak. Anyway, he put car in lift to check everything and possible issues. Everything checked OK.

He topped off the oil (9.5 qts), coolant and wiper fluids and checked everything else. He took car for a drive and he said my car was one of the nicest 99s he has seen with a great "pull" and great engine. Wow, this really put a very big smile on my face to hear that.

Here are some pics underneath (sorry phone pics) and a clean filter!!! No debris. Probably will do the IMS upgrade next year if I don't upgrade to other P-car

Ed - I don't have the url for the AARP site handy, but the very next renewal request that I get I can send your way. I let my membership expire - can't afford a Porshe and a membership to AARP.

Still amazed at this - I took a road trip, left PA Sunday afternoon with nowhere special to go - hooked up the GPS and landed in Virginia Beach - a few miles before I got to the Chesapeak bay bridge tunnel (had never been on that before) it is quite late and very dark - I see what I think is a shadow out of the corner of my right eye (the wife always said I am the only person that can see shadows in the dark) I instinctively slow hard - not a panic stop but good use of Porsche brakes on the C4S, I steer hard right and my headlights pick up a deer moving right to left and I immediately brace for impact with an "oh ****" thought. I am now moving in what feels like slow motion, I don't hit anything, I look left and there is the deer now facing left to right and I think PLEASE don't move - and it doesn't and I catch a breath and move on, very slowly, very attentively. I get to the bridge, pay the unbelievable $12 bucks toll (thus why I dropped my AARP membership) and continue on. I realize the bridge is deserted, high above the bay, can't possibly be any cops and sure as hell no need to worry about road kill. So I pick it up, and pick it up some more, and I am having a blast, it's 69 degrees, windows down, PSE singing across the concrete. And then I notice road kill on the pavement, fairly large road kill at that, and I am thinking IMPOSSIBLE, I am on a freaking huge bridge - and then I realize that some forms of road kill fly. So, I back it down and cautiously proceed to the nearest ocean front hotel and called it a night. Next leg was to western NC - love that Garmin I got for my anniversary. Lot's of fun. More moments to share later.

I remember thinking last summer as I crossed that bridge that I'd never seen seagull roadkill before. They were everywhere! The birds must think like we do(no way I'll see any humans way out here in the bay!).

Today when I was coming home from work, I stopped small grocerystore to pick up some chow.
When I was walking back to my car, there was this about 5y old kid and his grandma walking the same way in front of me.

Kid: Look granny a Porsche
GM: How do you know it's a Porsche?
Kid: Well (look's up to granny) I KNOW THIS BRAND! I wonder who own's it...

I kept smiling rest of the way to home

Filling up at a Mobil station today and a guy in a caddilac walks up to me and remarks "Geez - the new Porsche sure looks awesome! Looks like they modernized the headlights!"

NO JOKE.

So I said to him "This is a 9 year old car" and he replies "I know my caddilac's actually 8 years old..."

Posted this in OT but thought you guys might be amused by it:

Need a couple of bulbs for my Cayenne to make the annoying beeps stop! So, I go over to my local dealer, literally 2 minutes from my office. This is a brand new facility they recently built and moved into, I go to what I assume is the cashier in the service department and ask for parts…she picks up the phone and calls someone.. rings 9 times, gets voicemail. Then she picks up an incoming call and spends 5 minutes booking an appointment while I stand there. After that she rings parts again… 9 rings and voicemail, She tries again.
and Parts picks up, she says she has a customer for parts he tells her he is busy and will call her back “Click” I am just floored at this point.

Me: Where is the parts counter?
Her: It’s at a different building
Me: Your old Location?
Her: No near here.
Me: Can I just go there?
Her: No, customers are not allowed there
Me: So how do I get parts?
Her: They bring them here
Me: Are you kidding? clearly that’s not working when they don’t talk to you and how long does that take? I just need a bulb!
Her: Well that’s how they do it now.
Me: And they think this is a good business model? Having your parts at an “undisclosed location”

At that point the phones rings and she ignores me .. I just gave up and left.

I guess dealers don’t even want parts business anymore, I have bought 2 cars from these jerks.

Surely that situation can't last long - that's really inefficient. Especially for a German car company!

Amazing!

Customer service appears to be a long lost art - customers are just an inconvenience that get in the way of doing work.

I'd ask to speak to a manager. Both dealerships here would go out of their way to help.

It happened to me the other week... Top down, stuck in a 20 MPH school zone (where I'm going even slower because school is letting out) a big Dodge 2500 pulls up beside me. driver says, in a thick East Texas drawl "Wanna race?"

I look up to see which one of my wise *** friends must have pulled up next to me - only to see a stranger. He just looked at me and smiled. 'Just kiddin man - beautiful car!"

The last reason I bought the car was for compliments, but I'll take 'em
