i got Apr tune well worth the money. Anyway in a bit about two o clock in the morning I’m going to the streets of Mexico to let the turbo rip if you don’t know what I’m talking about just watch 1320 video and you see what it’s all about. I already put two and a half gallons of 104 octane race fuel but haven’t decided which license plate I’m wearing tonight no the regular 996 is not capable enough to play in this league you need at least 600 horsepower
I’m like the transporter while people are wearing about the debt ceiling the border problems etc all I’m concerned about is shifting gears and having fun yes I have already hit the juice

Thanks for sharing, great read!
Unless I am mistaken, the author is slightly incorrect when stating PSM was standard, even beyond the later mention of the GT3 not having it.
I am almost certain my 10/98 build doesn't have TC, and if it does, I don't have a toggle switch on my panel to turn it on and off. In fact, all three of the toggle switch buttons are "unoptioned" in my car.

My 2003 doesn’t have PSM and with the exception of the X51 and Aero packages… is fully loaded. Keith is a good dude, glad they interviewed him.

I am happy my 2002 doesn't have PSM either. There are plenty of us in the 996 world.

I find it interesting the comparison made between the .1 and .2. While I've never driven a .1, I can't imagine the .2 feeling like a GT car when they are essentially the same car.

I hear you. I have driven plenty of 996.1s and 996.2s, 964s, 993, 991s and recently a 992 GTS on the track. Some of them on the street as well. All have different "feels" which depend on alot of things and preferences.
Don't know if i would personally define a 996.2 as a GT car but thats how he described it from his comparative perspective.
Sure, there is a big difference in "feel" to driving a car with 17 versus 18 inch wheels. Same can be said about the powerband of the 3.4 versus 3.6. Throttle cable will give you more immediate response to your inputs, but can be easily addressed with software on the e-throttle cars. Imho, with the exception of the powerband and power difference between the 3.4 and 3.6, using the same size wheels and similar suspension set-up, they pretty much "feel" the same to me.
Just happy to see that the 996 is the new "hot" porsche to own. My local Porsche dealer was telling me a couple of weeks ago that it was the hottest car last year on their lot. Huge demand and they sell very fast. Good to see.

My 2002 Cab has a PSM switch to toggle on and off. It is an option that was included in my build. Thanks for the article.

The only argument I can see for a GT car is maybe the Targa. Mine has a brown interior and heated seats with memory and lumbar support. Plus, it's a Tiptronic. I think this is about as close to a GT as it gets.

All y'all with your nannies and GT .2s, I drive a real analog porsche, clearly the .1s were the last analog cars ever made (unless you optioned TC/PSM, nice try!), when they cut over to .2 production the factory was moved to the moon as these are more spaceships than cars. It is my firm hope that I leave this earth as my car slams into a tree while spinning out of control at 90 mph in the rain and I'm yelling "ANALOGGGGGGGGGGGG". (/s)

The Author made light of the IMSB issues and made a mess of it Technically/statistically, but the readers in the comments straightened it out...
Good article and I like the 996 getting some love....( but keep it real)...
