What year? Is that a 996.1, so a 3.4L?
Do you know what SAE correction and smoothing they were using when that was displayed?

it was a 99. No smoothing 4th gear pull. Fabspeed catted exhaust and k&n intake on a 75 degree day.

@BaysideFab in 1st place with the K at 485WHP.

I've been following your build - sorry for your loss, well losses. On the bright side, you can send a lot of rods to the moon before you start getting anywhere close to M96 money.

I think you will get it sorted and the K turbo is a pretty well vetted combo, the stock rods and boost coming on a little too hard have ended a lot of them though. If you're going to stay with a stock block, really good boost control (waste gate priority) and someone that knows how to tune them to stay alive will probably do you real good. Good luck.

just picked up a jdm k24 today. Gonna get a smaller turbo, new tuner and switch to a 3 port. Once I get all bugs sorted out I have a built block for the big power but we’re not there yet.

yeah had a boost control issue and hit 28psi on stock internals. $900 mistake. The 250hp m96 just blows itself up in stock form and your $10k in the hole.

Also as you can see by this graph this is where we had the issue. It survived boost cut in the dyno but not on the street. Made 556hp and 474tq and was climbing. Stock motors can not handle that power level. Would have been fine at the 480hp level.

Here is my 996 with 997 3.8 and Dundon Exhaust compared to 996 GT3. My car is blue line (hope that is right....I am color blind.). This is at the wheels so I think you add 15%

@lowpue Kinda hard to tell where peak was, How about we go with 345. Interesting how similar the power curves are with the GT3, the GT3 power is just shifted later in the RPM range.

I'm with @philbert996 that the Honda should be removed from the list -- for now. You are not allowing one-off runs from engine builders and this seems like one of those to me. I'd be more inclined to allow it if I saw a motor that was being regularly driven without grenading.

Thanks for starting this thread BTW. Should be a lot of fun.

The MFG rule is because if a consumer can’t replicate it, it has no real world value for owners.

If @BaysideFab numbers were out of line for a Turbo K, I’d agree with you, but they’re not - the story is in this thread so people can use their own judgement.

Wanting to erase the Honda from the list because it crushes a m96 is hilarious. The motor didnt blow up at 480hp. It blew up on a accidental 600hp+ Pull. Car made about 15 pulls over 400hp no problem. It’s a hard pill to swallow I know.

Maybe you should be posting on a Honda forum mod thread rather than here.

The below is taken from the OP's first post of this thread. I'm just sayin':
"So, let's see those higher than stock HP 996's."
