Its for my '03 3/4 ton dodge. Bought it new 11/02 and has over 400k on it. This motor is 2x hp, 5x torque, 2.5x weight, .33x rpm and .25 rebuild cost of a m96. Such a weird world we live in. It puts a completely different kknd of smile on your face at 60 lbs of boost
I retired from Cummins 11 years ago, was a Factory trainer working the 49 states, We made the Alaska techs come down to Seattle for training. not understanding why issues with 5.9 rod bearings, was never a issue with us.
LOL the Killer Dowel Pin was a big issue for Cummins
Edit: Just caught you mention 60 lbs of boost, hmmmm wonder what else is done.

Very cool i did the cummins factory tour in Indiana about 10yrs ago.
The motor has had Industrial Injection tow twins, big injectors amd a Smarty since 100k miles. At 300k it melted the rings on cly1 due to me ignoring a leaking injector. So i rebuilt the motor with a Hamilton cam, chromo push rods and 100lb valve springs. The cam really woke up the motor. For whatever reason over the last 100k miles the motor beat the living crap out of the rod bearings. So now rebuild # 2 included a new crank and 1 new rod.
Sucks to spin a rod bearing, I just sold my 04.5 Ram with 5.9 ISB, bought back 04 for 35K put 160 K miles on it and sold it 2 months ago for 25K, I didn't use it enough. still have the Smarty Catcher and should sell it, here in CA we have to do smog check on 98 and newer diesel every other year. both my Benz are diesel and luv em.
If you went to Headquarters in Columbus Ind. they have great display there with the 855 hanging from the ceiling and engine completely apart piece by piece hanging, and quite few cars including the Cummins power Indy car, In Plant 1 we all signed the last N14 produced and put in display, great engine and easy to work with.
Not sure how off-topic this is, but I have been wondering just how the "1998" Build-dates are officially determined. Theres a claimed 4/98 car on BaT ( https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...rera-coupe-56/ )and its about 600+ digits later than mine, which is also supposedly a 4/98 build.
So my off-topic, but totally about 996 question is; How are the build date's determined when its not stamped anywhere on the car? (Or is it and Im just a newbie?)
Now that you mention it, I think I may have seen it once before... I guess I was just shocked a little that the BaT VIN was 600+ numbers later. Maybe ours were built on the different ends of the month?...
Earliest 4/98 on the RL List is 62-1642, the BaT car is a 62-2291 is about 650 cars apart. Feels like a lot in a month, especially if they were still handbuilt, but what do I know. Thats over 30 cars built/ day 5 days a week for the month
Yup they r called compounds....the big one, from a series 60 Detroit feeds the small one about 5-8 psi and the small one "compounds" the compressed air even more.
Tool advantage of a weird warmish day bedore we get the cold storm on the east coast.
More motor fun....pulled a 289/c4 from a barn find 65 knotch back mustang. Its my neighbors car and we already did a full ridetech suspension and holley snyper fi. Gonna be a cool summer crusier. Not sure what we r gonna do with the motor, maybe punch it to a 302, cams and new heads.
