There is a bump protector that is missing on there. It should have come in the package. It's a small rectangular block that bolts to the bottom rear center, right behind the drain plug. Below you can see it on mine. I think a cover would be a good idea for street driving but wonder if it would have an effect on cooling with the fins being covered up from air flow.

While waiting on the rest of the suspension stuff to come in I did some research on headlight and taillight upgrades.

I upgrade both with some new bulbs from Retrofit Source .

I was tired of how crappy the standard halogen reverse lights and wanted to try to get more light also out of the headlights.

I found the following are easy upgrades in the link above that are all laid out for you in the 996 platform.

I upgraded to the Philips DS2 85112 XV Gen 2 bulbs. They definitely made a difference in light output for my HID's. The color is a little more white than the stock bulbs and produces more lumens which can be seen in the video testing

And before you ask i didn't get a before and after of the headlights but it was a noticeable difference for sure.

The reverse lights are a gigantic improvement over the OEM. .. you can see the difference below .. sorry for the bad photos as they really don't do them justice.

OEM light

GTR Bulbs

Here is the packaging .. they also come with some adapters to fit with the kit if you use the website and type in the vehicle information.

Did you do the reflectors as well, or just bulbs? I had done the bulbs in mine but found it didn’t help much… The reflectors made a huge difference!!! They’re on a par with modern light now…

I assume you mean the projectors as mine is the bi xenon/hid? I didn’t replace the projectors and still had a noticeable difference.

I may up the wattage by modifying the oem ballast from 35w to 46w which is suppose to be a huge jump in lumen output.

Well it’s been a bit so I thought I would update this thread on what all has been done.

finally was able to start on the brakes.. I did Girodisc front and rear with akebono street pads. I also did Spiegler lines and Castrol SRF fluid flushed and bled. Much improved feel and ready for the track with a simple pad swap.

It was the perfect time to add the joe toth dive planes I’ve had for a bit (nice pieces)! It was the perfect time because I did to replace the cup splitter due to some **** poor judgement on my part leaving a gas station in a hurry.. I also ended up bolting the cup splitter in instead of using the plastic fasteners… good times 😂

I also got the elephant arms and camber plates installed. Corner balance and alignment came soon after.

No, I meant the reflectors (the reflective “bowl” that sits behind the bulb) - this is the part of the “projector housing” that degrades the most over time, as the reflective material becomes non- reflective.
