Default My Build thread..

I guess now is a good as time as ever to start this thread to share the build and a good way for me to keep track of things..

i bought a 996.2 in late May with about 63k miles on the ticker. I bought the car from a private seller in Florida and drove it home to Tennessee. The car drove fantastic but it had some minor issues that needed some help such as old tires, etc.

The car has a long list of items to bring it up to my standards and also correcting some maintenance due to age that needed some attention.

But here it is after the 10hr drive home and 29 mpg i recorded..

The car has list of stuff it has already received but I have more to go..Some had already been done previously but i feel better knowing i did it as the goal is to get everything maintenance related done by end of September. i know it might be a waste of money but i fell better knowing

Items already done:
All Spark Plugs and Coil packs replaced
engine mounts
all new filters (cabin, air, etc..) and oil change switched to Driven
LN Drain plug
Front radiators and condenser cleaned
full clean up of motor compartment and underneath ( this sucked but was needed)
all suspension arms replaced with fresh arms
Ohlins Road and Track coilovers with fresh top hats
Tarret Swaybar Drop links
Apex wheels gt3 fitment with Conti tires 235/ 295 setup .. damn M4S came out a week after
Fabspeed Exhaust.
Rennline pedals - rubber pedal covers fell off so figured what the heck..
Changed manual trans fluid with Mobil 1 Mobilube PTX 75W-90
LN IMS solution
UAOS
RMS, Clutch, and Flywheel
Aero front bumper and side skirts

Items coming very soon:

all new CSF radiators and CSF Center Radiators when water pump and LN low temp thermostat installed in a 3-4 weeks..
Brakes most likely GT3 master cylinder and Giro upgrade discs with possibly ferodo 2500 pads and stainless lines.. still not 100% on choice but close.. I have 3 bottles of Castol SRF already sitting here as well. (Still considering options)

Items still thinking about or waiting on:
Tarret sway bars
Adjustable front Control arms (GT3 style)
BBS E88's
RPM technik EVO Ducktail or OEM AERO decklid for MK2.. basically GT3 style

Here she is now..

Looking forward to following this!

Where did you get all the suspension refresh items from? I have various things on my wishlist from ECS and FCP

thanks for the kind words.. I try and order most stuff from FCP because if it fails or breaks they replace it for free. I plan on keep the car for a long time so they aren't the cheapest but it's worth it in my opinion for me wanting to keep for awhile. an example is when I did the spark plug and coil swap we had an instant misfire at startup from Cyclinder 2. The cause ended up being a cracked spark plug which they replaced for free.

be careful of the control arms as some people have had issues with them being the wrong size etc... all the other arms I've never heard of issues with

Looking forward to your build! Glad to see more and more of these. I'll have the RPM Technick Duckbill by the time I get back home in Oct.

Solid car and process. Seems like you're doing all the right things here so this car should be a blast to own and drive for miles to come. I've made a lot of similar choices on my build too and am contemplating a center radiator set up as well. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on the set up. Are you doing the work yourself?

most of it .. some I'm not willing to do such as IMS/ clutch, etc.... I enjoy working on it when i can which in most cases is about 70% of the work

Nice, I did the full suspension refresh and coilovers on my car, too. Made a huge difference. If you're on the fence about sway bars, I say do it. I really liked what the Eibach sway bars did for my car.
