If you use a spacer for more capacity (ie. 2qt) on the UIDS v2.2 , then it will come with a spacer for the pick-up tube also (ie. 2qt) and would be installed on the UIDS v2.2 custom pick-up tube..

Skip and George, can't wait for the UIDS to be ready for shipping. It will solve many issues. May have to buy 2. One for the car, and one for its artistic beauty on a pedestal

nice machine work for sure, but without much testing, we can't say that this is the solution yet. I really hope it is, but unfortunately I have some pessimism on this being a permanent fix.

Believe me if I had to pick between ugly/functional and pretty/nonfunctional, it would be the first choice every time. But I only know one way to make things.. Maybe I'll go kick it around the shop floor and dunk it in the waste oil tank so we can all focus on the task at hand.

When everything marketed and sold in huge numbers to fix this problem has not worked, yet suggested all the time - I’d say pessimism is a fine place to start from and in fact - there needs to be more pessimism in general from 996 owners on if the widgets they’re buying for their cars actually work.

I know Skip and because of that, I have confidence he will not release anything that does not work and he has indicated he’s open to having the data collected on the unit published in support of its efficacy.

What else could you ask for ?

This! And the UAOS is a fine example of that. I was at a Porsche dealer getting an alignment done today and pretty sure I sold my tech on a UAOS for his C4S!

Of course. However, Skip has been around the block and whether the first prototype works perfectly or the 5th, I am confident that he will figure it out. Obviously this bolt on solution won't address every issue that plagues the 96 engine. Nothing does nor will. With that being said, all I am looking for is something to keep the tube in the middle of the deepest pool of oil, which is something that doesn't seem to exist just yet. Add in better/more radiators and an oil cooler coupled with a better aos, and Ims, and we have ourselves more durability.

But yes, too early to tel if v 2.2 is the one or if it's 5.5.

I know, It's hard not to be excited . I'm not sure which gets me more excited, seeing the perfectly uniform and unique machine marks , or seeing the vision come to life !!!

Like with the UAOS ,( its is performing beyond expectations) , even allowing more oil level to be ran on the track to help longevity of the engines,, but the unique "Cotes de Geneve" finish adds beauty to the function. The function of the UAOS design in being easier to service ,along with the cost savings over time, the added safety of the design, and the increase in oil capacity has exceeded my vision/expectations.

I have a 4 channel data logger installed on my car to log RPM, oil pressure, oil temp, to gather data before and after the install of the UIDS v2.2 to verify the performance (as much as I can with my driving skillz)..

I always like the quote: "Optimism in engineering is a disaster waiting to happen".

Never heard that one. Must have been a liberal arts major that said it.
